Had my new "99 build aligned and scaled.
Minimum wt is 2400 lbs.
With me in it, and a little less than 1/4 tank of gas, it weighed......drum roll.......

With or without balast? Most races START with a little less than 1/4 tank (3.5-4 gallons for a 25m race) of gas and finish with 1-1.5 gallons of gas (which is basically E).

I didn't lose, I just got outspent!
Only ballast was my too large belly. I gotta lose some weight.
Then I'll have to add ballast.
You'll want to go across the scales at the track with a gallon in the tank before qual. That scale matters
Do you have a FPR or way to pump out the gas?
Also with suit gloves and helmet, etc, right ?
J~
That puts the dry weight somewhere around 2160. Not sure, but I think that's heavy, even for an NB. My car is a 1.6, but I've seen some pretty big guys in a 99 and they still carry significant balast.

I just came across the scales at BIR this weekend in my NA and weighed in at 2440. Again, I am the ballast problem at 235. I was doing Hyperdrives so the passenger seat was in and it was hot so a full coolsuit system and 1/3 tank of fuel...
OK, maybe I weigh more than 210.
But, really, I don't know what else I could strip from the car.
The coolant reservoir is about it.
My car is a 1.6L, so I don't know how much of this is applicable...But, here is a mostly complete removals list for my car along with the measured weight of the items in question:
http://www.tomhampto...weight-removed/
I've got more to go....but, my car weighs 2325 with driver (in full race gear), full cool-suit, 4L firesystem, 1.5 gal of gas....or ~2100 dry. I'm looking to remove another 50 lbs. I have already found 25 but haven't removed it yet, just need 25 more.

The easy part is less gas, leave a gal left after you come off track, just in case. 7lbs a gal. 1/3 tank, you have a 2 or 3 right there.
But really if your just starting, I'd rather have it aligned and scaled, then off and lighter.
Learn the car, the track, to drive at the limit, don't practice tired.

I make weight at 265 with one gallon and 22 lbs ballast...
I thought the engineers in the class said lighter flywheel/pressure plate wasn't really effective in the "Help the 1.6" thread.

Do you guys remove the radiator fans?
Rather than ask the question here, read the rulebook first and determine what you feel is legal and what is not. Then if you are still confused ask away. You will be amazed at what you may learn, just by doing the investigating yourself.

Does not mean they are not out there. Found an aftermarket lightweight flywheel this spring.

Over a 25 minute race, how much difference does 10 lbs on a 2400 lb car really make?
Obviously, if you're at the pointy end, every bit counts, but for the mid/back pack folks, is it really that big a deal?
(for reference- I had to throw 90 lbs of ballast in my 1.6 to make 2300 lbs with a gal of gas and full gear. no coolsuit, just my 175lbs and suit, gloves, helmet, etc.)
I thought the engineers in the class said lighter flywheel/pressure plate wasn't really effective in the "Help the 1.6" thread.
If the driver is a pointy end kind of guy, lighter weight rotating mass with less moment of inertia will improve acceleration............... Small bitts accumulative make a larger bitt.
Whether it actually works or not is besides the pointI thought the engineers in the class said lighter flywheel/pressure plate wasn't really effective in the "Help the 1.6" thread.
