Reading through magazines like Road & Track, we often see spec sheet of different car.  It got me thinking if anybody ever done a performance testing on a race built Spec Miata? Such as 0-60, 0-100, braking distance, and skid-pad G. To put the Spec Miata in perspective with other sports car on the road?

I bet you don't find a whole lot that's impressive about 0-60, but braking performance probably isn't bad.  At a guess, where you would really see them being competitive with expensive sports cars (Z06, 911, etc.) is in cornering loads, given the Hoosiers and lighter weight.

Spec Miata Performance Specs below

  • 0-60 - measured with and egg timer
  • 0-100 - measured with a calendar

This is the BEAUTY of Spec Miata - it fulfills STEYN'S HOLY TRINITY OF SUSTAINABLE RACING

  1. Racing in slow motion
  2. Crashing in slow motion
  3. Spending in slow motion

Although some in this class think that ship #3 sailed a long time ago, but IMO compared to anything out there that is remotely comparable, Spec Miata is KING!

I think you need some trackside cameras so you could so something like this with SM.  I bet it would be gorgeous!

Me too! I want more time than the SCCA runoffs! ( and I'd prefer not to qualify 22)

I hope so too with the expensive reg fees. The commentary was good last year, but it would be nice to have some video (other than a webcam strapped to race control lol) available for friends and family to watch.
