After reinstalling the head on our 2003 sm we are having really weird issues with the timing. The car will pull its normal timing curve until about 5k and then will jump from about 26 to about 15 degrees advanced and then hold that to redline. We have checked gap between timing plate and crank position sensor and made sure that all connecters are fully plugged in and clean, but can't seem to chase this problem down and have no idea where to look next except a different ecu... any advice would be much appreciated

(this is my main account) I haven't seen that thread, but I am thinking about checking to make sure that the ring that is press fit onto the intake cam for cam position sensor is how it should be, as I had a couple of bent intake studs from shipping. idk how it would change things as rpm increases, but i'm just trying to eliminate things now...

Likely this is being done by the ECU. If I understand correctly, when you set timing make sure you jump the data link...you need 800 rpm to set timing correctly. If you are to advanced now this may be your issue...good luck.
