Edited by Todd Lamb, to make things a little clearer in light of the recent SMAC call:

The following was discussed as a basic outline of the way the program would work.

------------------------------------

$25/entry compliance fee for Majors events only in 2016.

There is concern that compliance fee funds from previous years were not utilized for tech, or did not have the appearance of being utilized properly. Therefore, as part of reinstating the compliance fee, SMAC requests involvement in planning the 2016 SM Majors tech program in conjunction with CCC/SCCA.

Such planning should include the following:
-tech in each division at Majors, at high attendance events TBD
-tech at a select few highly attended regional events (TBD: ARRC, SARRC/MARRS combined events, Mid Ohio, etc)
-more random tech throughout the top 20 (points positions), plus winner
-more variety of items checked
-training for tech officials on a divisional level
-John Bauer is going to take inventory on tools previously purchased
-less redundancy, not same tech for same driver for same thing over and over
-transparency on the program and budget
-non invasive tech can be increased for top 20
-sealing program not recommended, unless paid for by driver
-reimbursing drivers for teardowns not recommended

----------------------------------------------------------

Of course other ideas and suggestions are welcome, as always in the form of a letter at crbscca.com, Reponses here are not official.

The survey is too simple. For instance, suppose I think it's OK for Majors but not for regionals. How do I vote?

Am I for or against all four choices for use of funds?

(About the poll) I tend to think more people will take it then people posting their opinions publicly here.

I thought the edit was good to only majors but I guess fee amounts or certain events could be discussed as well, $10, $25, etc.

Care on,

This is a What Do You Think.  This is not a poll.  Write into the letter system www.crbscca.com and tell us what you think about the idea.  Keep it short.

I like the idea of a fee for compliance.  I don't like a fee.

I like it for Majors, I don't like it for regionals.  I like it for all races.......

If you have an opinion, express it.  Nothing posted here counts!!!!

wheel

p.s. Drago's post, above, is the way to do it.  Although, if he doesn't send it into the system, it doesn't count.

2015 Majors Participation:

South East    256

Northern       191

Western         51

Mid States    109

North East    185

Total             792 x $25.00 = $19,800.00

From some of the posted possible expectation uses of the compliance fee posted previous to this thread, 20 grand ain't going to cover much.

Majors ONLY.

As someone posted a couple years ago, it's only the top 30 guys worrying cheating each other

I feel $20k can go a long way. Assuming CCC is at 10 events, that's $2k to cover his expenses. The tools and equipment have already been bought. At $150 per night for a room and $100 per day per diem. Figure 4 days is $1000. Add in travel of $600 and we have a surplus.

Split the visits based on last years participation:

South East  3, Northern, Midstates and North East each get 2 and West gets 1. Since South East has 2 co-events (NOLA with Midstates and VIR with North East) you could probably free up an extra date for Northern conference.

The SMAC previously requested an accounting of money spent during the old Compliance Team. We never got it. Hopefully the current SMAC will have better results

Educate me, since the SCCA is already paying to have the CCC come to major events, why would we want to volunteer to pay for it???

I thought the purpose of this was to give the money to the racers who have to pay to get torn down and off set that burden.

I am against paying for the CCC when its already being done by SCCA. I am also against a compliance fee that does not give drivers the option to pay for sealing up front at their expense and allow them to opt out of the fee system.

I would pay more money if i knew i could go home on Sunday and not tear down. There would be limits as to what is included but once my head and motor are inspected and sealed I want to go home.

Why do we feel that SM is the only class in SCCA that needs a special compliance fee? This is still amateur racing, why spend all that money for a $15 trophy? As stated in the post above, I would guess only a handful of racers see a need for this and they're all at the very pointy end of the field. Think somebody is cheating, put up your own money and tear them down.

No new taxes in SM or SCCA.

Jeff you do realize the srf the gold standard of sealed motor classes has a compliance fee right????

I have no problem tearing someones engine apart myself but most are scared to death to go that far. I Promised a competitor once that I would do just that if he ever just drove away from me on a straight away ever again. He never did again. Maybe I just drive better from then on.

Ever since the CCC has showed up I have never even had a thought that anyone was beating be via cheating, even though he has caught a few!

Did you not read some of the suggested uses of the compliance fee within the last few weeks in other threads. Compliance fees paying for the cost of re-assembling legal engines, transmissions and so on that had been tech tear down for the CCC.
