Shipping weight on my cage is ~ 190 pounds. That includes box, packing material and skid. My estimate is that the steel itself weighs 160 pounds. That being said, I use long tubes into the trunk, oversize footings to strengthen the floor, dash bar, extra diagonal bars, and 10 gussets. I would imagine a minimalist cage could be done for around 100 pounds. Every cage builder has different ideas on what bars are needed and exactly where they go. The number of bars, and their length is the biggest factor in total weight. Weight of the cage should not be a deciding factor in which cage you purchase.
Not saying any cage is wrong, but I like mine the best. But I am totally biased.
