Anybody ever used their stock donor wheels (rims and tires in new condition) as rain tires?

I figure that has to be better than slicks in the rain, no?

Have an event coming up and weather forecast looks iffy.

Thanks

Also, assume the rims are legal. Legal is not what I'm asking.

I'm not trying to win anything here or gain any advantage. Just want to keep the car on the track, and I don't have a dedicated set of rain wheels yet.

Yes 15x 6 stock rims. some guys have used for rains and think the narrow rim is better for rains.

Just be carefull with the stock wheels. They are prone to cracked spokes. Usually start on the back side. I remove from car every session to inspect. The rims are legal.

The only legal tire in SCCA for SM use is Hoosier H20

Tried a set of street tires once at Mid Ohio before I bought rains. Were terrible there. Ended up switching to slicks the next rain session and was considerably faster, like 20+ seconds a lap. Other tracks may be more forgiving though.
