Seems a reasonable enough request that otherwise very similar chassis have access to the same bars. If you agree, I would appreciate your support in the form of a letter to the CRB.

1.8 27mm just one set of holes, but also a bit longer arms.
I have not measured/compared effective length of the arms to calculate approximate diffrrence in strength.

I'm not sure why this wasn't done at the time the 1.6 front bar was allowed for the NA 1.8s, but it seems illogical to me that some NA chassis have access to both bars while others don't. Perhaps it was generally considered an undesirable swap so nobody bothered, but I would like to experiment with it so I sent in a letter.

I'll send a letter in support of the 1.6 using the fatter bar which I prefer on my NA1.8. Can I get your support for a weight reduction for the NA1.8 to that of the 1.6?

The 1.6 bar is definately softer. The NA 1.8 had an inherent push. Installing the 1.6 bar made them much more drivable. I do not even sell the NA 1.8 bar any more. This has been in effect for at least 5 years as a help to NA 1.8 cars. I am not sure if the 1.8 bar in a 1.6 chassis would even fit due to the extra length.
Don't open a can of worms, nobody wants the NA 1.8 bar, except Sager. And I can not imagine it every getting through the rules process.

What would you even do if your car got a 50lb reduction chop your left leg off from the knee down and do it all with your right leg or a stick? The 50lb would help others but probably not you!!! Can we get a 50lb reduction of the 1999 weight then I can remove all ballast! Be really nice at road America
It would be a blessing.. somehow I ALWAYS keep my body weight within 10 lbs of max weight in the car I drive.. 50 lb weight deduction would mean 50 off me

My 1.8 is looser than I'd like with the 1.6 bar. Maybe I need more reverse rake...

Now that the 1.6 is such an overdog, scca enterprises must be licking their chops for the 40mm restrictor plate sales volume!! Win-win.
42mm for me

Going to the smaller bar changed our car completely...in a great way. Full soft front and back with no rake really either way...definitely free but some very good drivers love how it feels!

Steve...to make sure we are on the same page...what is max for you? In relation to the end of the bar...the first hole or the 2nd for your end links?

Rear typically the opposite.

^^^ We are on the same page! I only asked because I had someone try and convince me the first hole was the stiffest. First hole front and rear full soft. In all honesty we have never tried medium or full stiff on the front...the car has worked so never a need to change. If we couldnt get the camber we wanted on the front then maybe i'd try this.
I will say this...great drivers can make anything seem to work! Optimal or not...if they win with it why change
I watched a good driver struggle all day with a new NB build. He couldn't keep the rear end planted and was having a lot of wheel spin. He drove within 1.5 seconds of his fast NA cars times but couldn't get any closer. Weeks later in his garage he realized he had installed the springs backwards...DOH! He was a good driver put a shitty mechanic!
