On my last car I used skateboard material for the floor pan. Works fine, but its hard on the heels of my shoes. Has anyone had success with any non-abrasive options?

I've seen some non-slip paint that says its a latex based paint with rubber particles embedded in it...for use on boat decks, diving boards, etc.

I've also seen a PVC tape.

I'd like to reduce the wear-n-tear on my shoes, but I don't want to try some unproven option either.

So....any success stories?

I did my floor with Herculiner bedliner. Works great. No slip getting in/out car even if shoes are wet. Is holding up well and don't notice any wear on the shoes. Fumes are strong, so apply in well ventilated area. Wear gloves, as even small spots are very difficult to clean off hands.

Have approx 1/8 inch thick rubber sheet of area to cover where both feet reside and have the rubber rolled at the forwrd edge for heal rest so heal dosen't slide forward. Poked 4 holes in the rubber and used Ty-Wraps to hold rubber rolled up. Used six 1/2 inch diameter flat head rivets with a shank of maybe 1/8-3/16 inch diameter and thin fender washer under flat head rivet. Got used to a light aluminum angle for foot security riveted to floor pan when Karting.

I used the skateboard style grip tape, but had it closer to the seat, as I step on it getting in/out... but my heal doesn't rest on it while driving.  win/win

I ran out of time before the race this weekend.  So, I went with normal grip tape for now.  Greg Kimble from the old site, used Krylon clear non-slip paint for multiple years.  I'm planning to try that over the summer.  I may make a couple samples of bedliner and the krylon on sheet aluminum and see which I like better.

I just recently installed the grip plate from 5xracing.  Works great and is non abrasive!  Has more of a foamy feel to it.  I like it a lot and would recommend this option.

I sprayed mine with a rattle can of truck bed liner.  It's not as good as line-x or herculiner, but it does the job.  It's also not nearly as abrasive as sand paper type materials.
