Time to get a thread started on the June Sprints - great field with lots of talent - so where's the SMACK?? Some of the fast younguns are registered, wonder if us old bald fat farts have something up our sleeves for them? What's the over-under on a FCY free race? Will the VVT finally rule at Road America over the 99's, or are the Scheifler NA's gonna run away with it???

The only way I would bet on a NA winning is if the first 44 NB's all breakdown then you will only have 3 NA's left so I think that would be a safe bet.   :rotfl:

It's Craigs year.. the rest of us are all fighting for the last two spots on the podium! He has led just about every race there and never won. Its coming next weekend..

I am in the VVT and not quite sure it has enough legs to get it done there, but we will certainly be trying!

I am feeling another strong East Street Sprints is coming.. We have a lot of fast cars entered.  :)

We haven't been there in what, 7 or 8 years? Fortunately not the hardest track to relearn but I really wish I had stuck with the iRacing.

Anyone looking for draft partners? We'll be glad to push you on those long straights in exchange for helping us get up to speed in the corners.

Or maybe we'll pay Justin to do a session in each on test day then put "Ugly Overdog for Rent" signs on them. Hmmm...

man, it didnt takle long to get back into it the typical racer mentality.. making excuses before you even get there :)

As to the second part...

That is a big mistake to think that way IMO.. ANYONE can "learn" the track quickly..  IMO, RA is one of the easier tracks to get close but absolutely the hardest to get right and get all of it out.  The best laps there take extreme precision. The long straights multiply the slight error in corners. If your predictive is off leaving turn three, the lap is over  as all realistic chances of a good lap are over.  If you do nothing right.. nail 14,1 and three.. If you dont, you will never contend.. Then start working on the rest.

Gonna be a great event, can not wait to get to Road America! Elkhart Lake that time of year is perfect....very happy to leave very hot and humid TX. I agree with Jim, easy track to be fast, and very difficult to be really fast. My favorite lap ever was at RA, Basically did not breath for about 2:41 and was shaking after the lap, but whatching the incar video it looked as if we were on the interstate, the wheel was so smooth. Look forward to seeing what we have, and competing. Hopefully we can have some luck against some of the young guys, they are obviously on a roll.

Well I will be there in the brand new 02 build haven't raced one of these since 2011 where Drago, Todaro and I came in second at the 8hrs of atl, that car has been in the Novak household ever after...

My pics may surprise some, and I may not be able to keep up this time around with a brand new car but if I can my picks are as follows Evan pecore who has been rock solid this year or, first time scca racer Adam Roberts #37 who has done nothing but impress me Everytime I have coached him this season's to 2 seconds and two first and nearly a new mid Ohio track record...

I hesitate to pick them only because they don't need any added pressure but I have seen some very special talent in both if these young men! And I will likely be the pusher for either of them unless someone else gets to their bumper first!

It would be tough to pick against Craig and Jim who have had so much success at this track but there will be about 50 others trying to keep them off the podium so that will make it harder for the favorites.  I'm bringing a pusher car and I think it'll push pretty well.

Well, I am not one for smack talking, but i am looking so  forward to this bucket list race. First year rookie, newbie, driver, but cant wait to drive with all of you. Such a great class.

OK, so onto what i need. I am packing for the long journey from SC, and I seemed to have lost my shoes. they were the really cheap kind, so not that big of a deal, but I was wanting to know if there are any race shops that carry shoes in the mid west, greater Road America area, or anywhere between SC and Wisconsin that i might could stop at and make a purchase?

Any direction appreciated. Looking forward to meeting many of yall.

Look forward to saying hi to all newbies and rookies to Road America. If anyone wants to see video or data, swing on by the OPM tent and I am always willing to share. We have a large screen setup in the trailer that makes data/video analysis more enjoyable.

Regarding shoes, there will be several track side shops at Road America  that carry a range of driver apparel, not sure what brands or prices, and also not sure if they setup on Test Day or on Qualifying Day. I suggest that it might be worth finding a place on the road. But for me, I would purchase online and have them shipped direct to the track for pick up at the gate. Pretty much all of us have had stuff shipped to the track. I think you might have to pay a $5 track handling fee or something like that if I recall correctly.

I just got back from trip #1 to Road America with first big truck. Indycar is testing tomorrow. No SCCA rigs will be allowed in untill they are done. The contract says they have the track to 6pm. Sometimes we can get in a little early, but I would expect 5pm at the earliest.

Also keep an eye out for cops. I probably saw 10 on the way up and 6 on the way home. My semi got pulled over for a random DOT inspection. So be fore warned. the local cops all know when there is a big race weekend with lots of potential revenue sources.
