Last weekend I was straightening things up in the garage and trailer. I picked up my race gloves and noticed the palm seam at the base of the thumb starting to rip between the leather and the ultra thin stretchy stuff. These are 5 weekend old Alpinestars Tech 1 zx's. Not happy. Because I don't sew and I shit canned the wife two years ago, stitching was out. That night I was watching TV when a Flex Seal commercial came on......... Hmmmmmm I assessed the risk of putting rubber on my glove and decided that half the palm was a rubber material so I dabbed some on the seam. Worked great. I ordered a new pair of gloves just in case.

If you send those back, they will likely replace with a new pair

Safety first. If your hands are burning, what part of your anatomy will you use to release the seat belts. TMI !!!!!

We tend to think of gloves as an afterthought. But our hands are what we will use to save the rest of us, in an emergency.

I also recomend red gloves to all my students. They are much easier to see through a back window.

White are even more visible. Important for hand gestures to be seen when you are stopped/crashed, and you are trying to get the attention of the corner workers

Wouldn't the color of the gloves also somewhat depend on what color the inside of your car is if you are trying to communicate with a corner worker?  If the inside of your car/driver suit is all white or all red, I wouldn't think white or red gloves would be the best option IMO.  Just being critical.

I think the neon gloves are generally the most visible, but everyone has those, so I don't wanna be a trend follower.  Looks are more important than safety right?  :)

When I am behind you, I am looking through the back glass and can not see what color you painted the floor or roll cage. The background for the hand signal would be the windshield. Sometimes green trees, sometimes blue sky, sometimes black sky. White works, but I still prefer red.

I'll respectfully disagree with this.  I have blue gloves on a blue car and no one can see my hand gestures (e.g. point by especially) .  (For the record, I had the gloves before I got the car. :P)  My next gloves (if these stupid things ever wear out) will be a bright/contrasting color.  I think part of the issue is our cars are much smaller/lower than many other cars, so they are not looking straight through the windows, but more down into the car.  (NASA mixed class...all SM field is probably different.)

Now you might be right that a bright glove in a bright interior works well, but dark colors in a dark interior don't seem to work optimally in my experience.  That or no one actually pays attention. ;)

Danny I like the idea of white, but white gets dirty so easily if you have to do your own wrenching.  Inevitably you will get into a thrashfest minutes before having to be on grid and your latex gloves will rip, etc. etc.

I can't believe that none of you guys can not figure out the universal glove color for Spec Miata racers-------girlie car = hot pink!

Actually, Men's Magazine ranks the Miata as the 3rd most girlie car behind any mini van & the #1 pick, the VW Beetle.

We are up at Pitt Complex for a V8RRS race. There's not one single Miata entered?
