Does anyone have just the rear section for a '99 Springfield Dyno exhaust they are willing to sell.

 

The 'amazing' clamp that comes with the kit didn't hold, even though I slit the outer tube. The rear section came off after a small off course excursion and ended up wrapping itself around my subframe like a pretzel. Still finished the race . Saferacer does not sell it separate. Thanks.

You need to weld the tailpipe to the muffler or this will happen every time.

I've always wondered if mine was the only one that fit loose and could not be clamped tight.

So, you just spot (tack) weld it?

I've thought about using hi-temp, copper silicone to attach and seal it.

Just installed one and there is no way I would let it out of my shop without fully welding it. The clamp is a joke.

 

And just a side note, like every other "bolt in" kit I have ever installed on any car, a cut off wheel and welder were required to finish the "bolt in" installation.

We use a small tab welded to each pipe at the joint, and a 6mm bolt & nut through the tabs. Keeps the pipes aligned, easy to disassemble for removal but hasn't fallen off yet.

Yeah, the fit was utter garbage on my NA 1.8 also.

As I recall the SD tail pipe fit inside the muffler out pipe. Naw, that's not cool and will cause disturbance. Went to muffler shop and had the tail pipe expanded larger than the muffler out pipe, slipped it over the muffler out pipe and used the IIRC included band clamp with two 5/8 inch bolts into the band captured nuts. Knock on wood.
