I can't beleive nobody is talking about the school... OK, I'll start.
It was awesome! But then again, My bet is all of the students walk away thinking the same thing.
I entered my 1995 Miata into ITA. It is basically a SM with the exception of the intake and the tires (Hoosiers). I had a hunch, that with 33 cars in the SM group, there could be some interesting moments... and it appeared there were, but I'll let someone else from group 2 talk about group 2's fun.
Group 3, Big Bore, we had about 17 cars in it, most were GTP cars, 2-4 ITA cars, a bunch of ITS cars and perhaps an ITE, or T1 car here or there. Basically, it was looking like it could be a sub 1:20 field at Summit Point. I was not really looking forward to being passed ONLY... I wanted my fair amount of passing, but figured what the hell, better to end the weekend and still have a car.
I have a lot of experience on track, especially instructing with HPDE groups, so the track, and driving were not my worry, it was managing traffic that had me concerned going in. That is, until someone told me to think of it as a club for gentlemen. If you can be a gentleman, you will be accepted into the club. If you act like a jerk, you will likely be asked not to come back. So if you can show that you can play nicely in the sandbox, then you are in.
Anyway, it was a blast! I have attached photos of mainly group 2 and 3. Have a look. I am #63, the black Miata with the silver top.

WDCR puts on a great school for sure. Being a "double", a huge amount of work for all I would bet.

It was a lot of work for the students, of which I think there were 77 or something like that. I think there are over 120 volunteers working so that the 77 of us can have the time of our lives... and that doesn't count our crew.
Amazing organization, amazing instruction, amazing experience!

Best quote of the weekend (anonymous to protect the guilty):
After being called out for passing four off the track during the green flag - "I can't do that?"

I think I have a better one... I am contemplating not mentioning it... I am that embarrassed...

So you're just going to let us hang? I'm sure we can hunt down someone from your sessions who sat in and will recall it. So cough it up, besides your soul will feel better sharing it with your closest best Miata buddies.

This says it all:

There happens to be video and everything... Unfortunately
It was the race on the second day. They do practice start, practice restart, then a start with a 5 lap race.
In the restart, I missed the flag in turn 4, there was no flag in 5, so I continued (We were told about the flag in 4, it was not a surprise). My brain simply stopped firing on all cylinders and I passed and passed and passed... I bet I gained 3-5 spots under black.
We talked about passing under black in the classroom early in the weekend. It is aloud, they simply re-rack you when you pull in... But we were not supposed to be doing that in these sessions, because they were not re-racking for the re-starts... it was discussed...
So anyway, I missed it, and didn't realize until we hit the classroom and my new friends were making fun (they really didn't care). It really ruined my day, I really felt horrible!
So not really a quote, just a momentary lapse of brain power.
