TOPEKA, Kan. (Sept. 12, 2016) – Each National Championship race at the SCCA Runoffs presented by Garmin VIRB will once again be shown live in its entirety, with a broadcasting crew that rivals any professional motorsports program, September 23-25.
Randy Pobst, the respected automotive journalist and heralded pro racer, returns this year to join veteran commentators Rick Benjamin, Greg Creamer and Dorsey Schroeder for coverage of the 2016 SCCA National Championship Runoffs presented by Garmin VIRB, from Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.
Each Runoffs race is a winner-take-all, 23-lap sprint for an SCCA National Championship following four days of qualifying. Coverage of the Runoffs’ 28 races begins at 8 a.m. (EDT) on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 23-25, and will be streamed live online at SCCA.com.
Jeff Lepper and Heyward Wagner return this year to provide insight from pit lane. Along with race coverage, the duo will also once again co-host a wrap-up show on each day of qualifying, live from Mid-Ohio, on SCCA.com. The show will recap the day's activities, as well as find interesting characters and storylines. The show will be available on SCCA.com each evening, beginning Monday, following qualifying.
"The SCCA Runoffs presented by Garmin VIRB is the best weekend of racing out of the whole year, with 28 races in three days,†said Reece White, SCCA Sr. Manager of Marketing and Communications. “Everyone should try to make it to Mid-Ohio for this amazing event. But if you can’t get to the track, the next best thing is to watch it all live from home at SCCA.com. We’ve once again drawn together a very accomplished broadcast team that will undoubtedly provide great coverage and insight of all the racing."
Production for the weekend races will, once again, be provided by SpeedCastTV. Additional information on the SCCA National Championship Runoffs, including a full schedule and entry list, can be found at SCCA.com/Runoffs.
