medium_RaceHero_Logo.jpgASA Valley, CA: The National Auto Sport Association (NASA) has selected RaceHero as the exclusive provider for live timing and race results for all 15 NASA regions and NASA Championship races moving into next season. RaceHero provides a "weekend in your pocket" experience featuring real-time entry lists, schedules, live timing and race results. Racers can now track over 150 annual NASA events using RaceHero on phones, tablets and desktop computers making their NASA experience easier to manage during the weekend activities.

It's not a race without results and there are no results without timing and scoring. What once was tracked with a stopwatch is today completely orchestrated by computers. RaceHero allows us to provide an automated live stream from our existing timing systems to anyone in the world on any device, enabling us to grow our reach with no additional effort. It also simplifies the process of posting results and getting information out to competitors and fans alike.

“NASA Timing and scoring operators are typically volunteers working under tight schedules” said Roman Vaisman, NASA Chief Technology Officer. "Just like the racecars on track, speed and accuracy are critical for our Timing and Scoring staff. RaceHero automatically publishes accurate provisional results and lets us easily distribute official results with penalties and corrections without adding more work for our staff."

"While we can't do everything in-house, we look for partnerships where we aren't just directing our members to a third-party", said NASA Director of Business Development Jeremy Croiset. "We embed RaceHero's live timing and results in our websites where we can drive traffic, promote our sponsors and provide value to our members through the latest and greatest technology. Software entrepreneur and racer Brian Ghidinelli created RaceHero based on his passion for endurance sports car racing which is a core event offering from NASA and we’re thrilled to be working with him on this new program.”

I tried endurance racing and I liked it.

Hey - quick story about my first endurance race: My very first enduro was splitting a 3-hour race in a friend's BMW at Buttonwillow in 2003 with NASA.

The race started at 5pm and I was to drive second, in the dark, for the first time ever. His 1995 M3 was waaaay faster than anything I had driven at the time and on slicks. As if I wasn't already nervous, it had been drizzling and when the car came purring down pit lane at the halfway mark, we were leading the race overall.

My stint had plenty of comedy - I drove the first 15 minutes with half the lights off and was getting black flagged, but without a radio and so few lights, I couldn't see the flagger!

A few laps later, the car ahead dropped a wheel and blanketed my windshield with water. I turned on the wipers only to create a giant smear - turns out it was mud and this car didn't have a wiper fluid tank!

Despite the newbie drama we won the race thanks to a healthy lead inherited from my buddy. Because of the mud, I couldn't see the checkered flag so I took one extra hot lap before I realized everyone else was on a cool-down lap. :)

The endurance racing hook was set. I've had the great fortune since to compete at the NASA 25 Hours of Thunderhill five times including a class win last year which is why it's especially meaningful to announce today that RaceHero is now the Official Live Timing and Results service for NASA!

All fifteen NASA regions and the NASA Championships are exclusively using RaceHero to deliver schedules, entry lists, live timing and race results to iOS, Android and the web for 150 events annually.

Over the next year you'll see significant new features and partnerships that will make your race weekend more fun whether you're competing, officiating or spectating at the track or from home hundreds of miles away.

I'm super excited to see validation for the hard work the team has put in and I appreciate you letting me share the news. I've attached the full press release below (and on our blog) if you want to know the details. If you have any questions or comments, just hit the reply button and bend my ear!

Brian
