I need to weld up a Laguna exhaust, what are people using as their secondary muffler? It's going to be a slip on second muffler to a SD style primary system.

Thanks guys!

Stock rear muffler attached to the "springfield" straight pipe. Easy as pie because you already have hangers made and its extremely quiet. Not sure if thats the best for max power/torque.

When you find the answer make 2! I have the clamp on flange still that came with the SD. Don at Mel&sons in Concord will help you...I think he still has a SM and helped me fit the SD perfect! I was going to procrastinate until June to do ours! :o

Call TC Design and Fabrication. They built me a great muffler that bolts on to the end of my SD Exhaust - passes Laguna no problems and only costs about 1/1 in power. He's in Milpitas: (408) 956-1526

Ron - I forget, maybe $125ish? Tony has built a bunch of them and it just hooks right up. He put the flange on both ends and it uses the stock hanger mounts. It spends the rest of the season in the spare tire well of my trailer. :)

I should mention that, only costing around 1-2hp/1-2ft-lb in power is HUGE at Laguna. I know of another car that lost 7hp when it bolted on its laguna exhaust!

I forgot to mention this isnt exactly for a spec miata, already got one for that :). Just looking for what muffler people generally use for Laguna type exhausts that yield the least power loss. Thanks for the info so far.

Sean, maybe I'm in a bad mood today but...

Can we stop the goose chase, what car do you have exactly?
Do you really think you're going to get something perfect, asking for something in generals?
And you don't want to spend any money because your going to boot camp soon, right?

Johnny,

I'm not sure how much more specific I can get with this one. For those who made their own Laguna exhaust, I'd like to know what the secondary muffler is. No goose chase, It's for a 2.3l highcomp supercharged 99. hah not. Just for a regular ol' Miata that I need quiet. I never said anything about cost being an issue, where did that come from?

Not sure why you're not using your SM one but...

B.H. told me once, add the Magnaflow 11226 for LS if your using a SD in front.
1.6 version I think.
I just bought one from TC. So I didn't try it.

That's the answer I was looking for, thanks!

The SM one is a full unit, and the year I ran it I actually borrowed from Jeremy. So that still needs to go back to them... This is going on a 1.8 with 2.5" exhaust too.
