The set up guide on the site was written by Jim Daniels in 2004, revised by Jim in 2008 or so. It is basically ten years old. I have not read it in years.  I started using that method or real similar to it. The cars have changed, bump stops have changed, offset bushings and tires since then.  I also think there are faster and easier methods at this point to set up the cars.

I was thinking about starting over as I read it last night and lots of the info is just out of date at this point.  It will be a lot of time. I don't mind doing it if there is a demand and people will actually read and use it. Trying to see what the interest level is.  Please leave some feedback..

Thanks

Jim

Funny thing, I was actually thinking of calling you as I'm doing the whole new setup from scratch. It would be a great service to us if you write it up.

TIA

I tend to run 1/8" out, and zero in the rear. Could the rear toe in with that much camber potentially scrub speed on long straights? Do you tweak the setup at the track?

Yes rear toe in can and does scrub some straight line speed. Yes I tweak at track a lot to find the last few .1ths
Slight toe in on the rear is faster than any toe out. Zero is a tough number to maintain with rubber bushings and crappy bolts.
Numbers given were total values measured with toe plates. If measuring off the wheel with strings the numbers will decrease slightly.
All of this is a simple baseline for the average guy setting his car up at home.

If you really look at it 1/8 out in front with all the camber we run is probably more similar to zero toe and 0 degrees camber than one might think in terms of scrub

Rears, if anything with the crappy rubber bushings we have you will induce toe out in rear under acceleration, so IMO, zero toe is not a good thing as any tow out in rear will scrub  speed. I always run atleast the thickness of a line in on the rear, usually 1/16- 1/8 in, rear toe in also stabilizes a loose car.

I agree, I went over and watched her change your tires as well as almost every other guy in the paddock :) And that was even before her twin sister showed up :)

But when the bigger and much butchier sister showed up at the watering hole, I was looking for a dam blindfold :)

Yes please update, I tried setting up my old white car and I had a hard time with the car the entire weekend. I took it to Ademir and they laughed at me.

I prefer to have the shop set it up for me but I have to learn in the event no one is around when I participate in regional races.

To be honest Jim Daniels write up gives me a headache every time I try to read it.....

Acceleration would increase toe in as the tire torques forward, braking would add toe out...

You ever put a go pro under each corner of the car and watch hours of video of each piece of the suspension and what it does in every possible situation at 3 of your most frequented race tracks? :)
