To be clear I was not picking on Blake I was stating since Blake is not going that Ross wouldn't have to take out Matt trying to pass Blake.

Jim

why have the fields been so small - is it the track location, is it hard to get to, is it tough on cars? If, as you say it is such a great track to race, why are the fields so small? Every track that I go to that is fun to race attracts a decent field, so I am really curious about Hallet.

I think it is down to the number one rule in real estate.. Location Location Location..

it is 6-8 hours from almost everyone. The mid states region really IMO has very few racing at this point..   SCCA has been hard on the Texs racers the last several years putting majors at their least favorite tracks. So many if not most went to NASA.  There was little reason for most of the Texans to come up to OK for this one major. With Cota and NOLA on the uper tour schedule, we have lured some back to SCCA.  Hopefully we are headed in the right direction and next year we will be back closer 30 cars.  There really is not better SM track to race. Busy, great rhythm and very challenging.

Good Luck to all! Fun track, as Jim said, Great rhythm. Reminds me almost of a motocross track, never time to rest and IF you get in a groove, you can make it look easy.

Well, X-Factor Racing has invaded Oklahoma and set up our fortress at the best little track 2/3 of the top 20 SM drivers in nation haven't had the pleasure of racing. Just did the test day and this thing has no straights. You are eyes up all 1:27 around the track. Hard to check guages for fear you might wander off the track.

The race is still upon the link above. Started third. Chris car was didnt want to turn left that well at a track that is mostly all lefts. He did a heck of Job finishing second, Matt suffered with same ill handing in lefts. My car with all of its polish downforce was actually pretty good in left :) tech team here again this weekend.   Pretty normal stuff and six of us pulling and dyoing shocks tomorrow after the race.

I'll try not to go on and on as a Hallet Cheerleader too much. But again, for all of you who havent been, it is one of the best miata tracks we have, PERIOD! You are constantly on the edge of adhesion..  working the wheel, throttle and brake pedal. Many times all three at once and the car is dancing around on the edge with no real straights you are busy as hell from start to finish. Just a blast to drive.

Yesterdays race could have been a real battle, fortunately for me Chris locked up his brakes at turn two early on and had to drive back up from a few seconds back which enabled me to pull my brake markers back a tick and turn laps and monitor the gap. That is one of the good and the bad in SM.. You simply cant spot anyone a mistake at all anymore. My car was really good, so as most of you know just pulling back brake markers a 1/4 to half mark makes things much less stressful and you dont really lose anytime. Chris certainly had the pace to win. If we go next year it will be a battle for sure. IMO, he is driving as good or better than anyone in the class.  Having as many laps as I do is certainly an advantage. I think the 4-5-6 complex at Hallet is one of the hardest complexes I have raced, if not the hardest to get right and go fast.

The tech team was there again, two super tours in a row.  Dynoed shocks from my car and 5-6 others, most were random. Sorry for those hoping :) , all passed.

Our garage of Sam Henry,Jim Daniels and myself had one of those rare weekends, we won six out of six. Proud of  Sammy for being able to beat Prill in Ruck in FP, pretty strong there by him.

Great seeing all the usual cast of characters again, many old charcaters that used to run mid div were out in IT/STL trim as well. It was a lot of fun.

Turning around in two days to go to VIR while trying to run a business and a house under full renovation, well thats just stupid. Taking off awhile after VIR.

If anyone cares to see why Chris and myself have been doing so well here lately, you might look at lap times from Chris win from Cota.. or perhaps mine from Saturday. Both of us have very good cars, but turning laps within a few tenths every lap doesnt hurt either   :)

Jim

No worries, I fought really hard for that P4, Nufer is a real talent.  As are the other 3 guys who beat me.  I should't feel too bad, lost to two National Champions and probably the fastest guy that hasn't won one yet.
