SCCA rule:    The driver’s seat shall be a one-piece bucket-type seat and shall be securely mounted, so as to provide fore/aft and lateral support.

To meet the NASA rule, just wedge a piece of wood between seat and rear bulkhead. Done.

^^^But aren't the composite seats "designed" to flex? My NEW seat flexes side to side but is fastened securely(subjective per Dave) to its floor mounts!

Ron my composite seat does have flex and IMO its designed that way in part to absorb energy,

Look at it this way if they read and enforce the seat rule that closely, then ask them please to move on to the contact rules also, lol.

I did my composite Ron and bolted it. I like it, it was flexing too much.

I think Craig mentioned to me though I didn't have to.

Personal preference.

I/O got 3 kinds now

I never saw these before and I haven't heard them mentioned on other forums. They look very practical, especially for someone who isn't a master welder installing  a seat or where the seat needs to be adjusted. There could be a significant market for the adjustable ones in the HPDE market where people are using aftermarket seats with a roll bar.

As has been posted in the past, Race Tech has an adaptor kit/instructions for existing composite seats which have not been shoulder mounted.

Interesting stuff, but did I hear that bit about a composite seat being a valuable structural component when back mounted to the cage correctly? That just doesn't seem reasonable to me... but I'd be interested in other folks opinions. I've been known to be wrong occasionally... lol.

I posted before ^^, and agree with the video. The seat was flexing and was taking time to get a feel because I had to get the seat to stop flexing 1st.

Kind of like a suspension taking a set. Afterwards I was one with the car with real time feel.

FYI, my seat was expired and a Racetech

If I sold high end seats, I'd say the same thing. In Karting back in the day, plastic/fiber glass seats, always install upper seat braces for the instant feel, rather than having a flex flyer.

For karting in this century, seat braces are tuning aids to help/decrease weight jacking. Materials have improved.
