The theory is that the brakes self-adjust on track so how would you know if they did or not. But if you're happy I'm happy.

As you know, rotating the e-brake arm adjusts the piston outward decreasing the pad to rotor gap. If there is no connection between the e-brake arm and piston, in theory the piston is not adjusted outward. Now, if Murphy sticks his/her nose in, who knows what happens.
