Newbie question: Front LCA bushings

This is normal.  That's why they tell you torque bonded bushings at ride height.

I'm rebuilding the right front corner after a little accident. With sway bar link, lower shock mount, and steering knuckle disconnected, the lower control arm doesn't move freely--it's held up by the front and rear bushings that are acting like springs. It takes considerable effort to move up and down. Is this normal, or should the LCA rotate up and down freely?
