Sorry to hear about the Mayor's last lap incident. Looked like a great race on Race Monitor.

It was even better on Spencer's live camera feed! Thanks Randy! Hope you had a great time at daytona with the guys, I sure missed you dad! The win was very bittersweet for me, knew Frank had gone around but I was not at all prepared to see him still sitting in the middle of the track sideways all smashed up on the cool down lap when we came back around. It was great racing all weekend with jordan smart, Jared Thomas, Spence Rutherford, frank todaro, and Brian murdick who was really the man to beat till he had to go home. Congrats to him for just flat out driving me all of the Sunday morning race for the win! As always the comeradarie around the vids on the trailer with food and beer, and even a special guest appearance by the reigning national champ who was trying to push us all to outdo each other with the drinking lol!

At the end of the video you will see the contact that left frank a sitting duck, wish I wasn't stupid and let kyle help me setup my car before the race then I may have been able to challenge him for that win.

Question only..... After the initial incident and before the T bone, looking through Frank's windshield, is the structure with someone standing in structure a flag station???

Congratulations Brian and Kyle on the wins.  Great job by Spencer, Jordan and other podium finishers! looks like another fast young guy coming up in Jared Thomas!

Congrats guys.  There is a good core of drivers and nice guys that attend the regionals at Mid-Ohio and the organizers put on well run events and the track always produces very close competitive racing.  A great venue IMO.  

 

It's a shame what happened to Frank.  He's had more than his share of unfortunate incidents the last few years.  You could hardly be at a stop in a worse spot there.  Hope the car isn't too bad and is back in winning shape soon.

I don't think it is but not sure.  I believe the flag station there in on the inside of that corner.

No, the only flag station in that section is on the inside of the left hand turn

you werent stupid to let me setup your car, since i didnt setup your car!  maybe you were stupid not to bring your car to me?  so i could have setup your car and yes i believe you would have challenged for the win in all 3 races!  

 

It hard enough to win in this class when all your ducks are in a row, impossible to do so if they arent!

  No he never used the word NOT... so the way it was written it could be taken either way, those that know me know I would never sabatoge his setup, but there are many lurkers here who dont know me at all, and thus my post!

I had a fantastic weekend until the last half of the last lap.

 

I ran the fastest lap of two of the three sessions and was on the poll for the qualifier. Kyle was driving well and our cars are pretty equal, so he did not make any mistakes, which forced me to make a last lap pass by out braking at the end of the back straight, could not pull that one off so i gave up on it and thought i left enough room on the inside as we were going over madness but did not, and spun.

 

What I saw after that was a flagger that did not seam as exited as I was, as i was frantically trying to fire the car and get out of there. No worse feeling than sitting in your car on the track and seeing a car at speed coming for you.

 

You beat your self up some after going through a weekend like that, we had a blast all weekend and if i was just a bit less competitive, stayed in line, i would have finished P2 and racing this coming weekend at Pitt.

 

It is what it is.

 

Congrats to Kyle and Brian. I think Kyle and i were within a car length for a good part of the weekend. Brain is always hard to beat.

lol no setup was done in the grass rough numbers were taken to see if anything was way out of wack... all adjustments were done on the setup pad in the upper paved paddock.  not sure if it made the car better or worse but I know he needed to at least do something as he had no chance at a podium without a change.
