replacement for an old koyo in a 1.6L

Looks like my radiator has a steam leak. i measured it, the end tank at the top is 60mm, which means its at least a koyo 53mm core. 

I was hoping to find an identical radiator and replace it, i have no issues with cooling. but it turns out koyo seems to have stopped making the 53+mm radiators, and instead replaced them with the 36mm "hyper-V" radiators. 

Id like to not spend 600 on a Springfield dyno, and its seems like there are plenty of other radiators that should provide the cooling. and honestly, i'd be fine with the 36mm hyperV koyo if i knew it cooled as well as the one in my car. 

what says mazdaracers? is the 36mm hyperV koyo enough?

And if the $350.00 Koyo doesn't fit your budget. Install a good OEM salvage yard radiator. If your constantly close drafting OEM salvage may not work. I've viewed them in Spec Miata and F production and under conditions of not constantly drafting they work well.

Mishimoto X-Line Performance Radiator has been working great for us.  105 deg Socal desert heat and never bumped 190, even in the draft. 

lifetime warranty for crashes and manufacturer defects. ** doesn't include corrosion** 

 

Cap and magnetic drain plug included. 

 

super thin cores for better efficiency. 

 

We ran into trouble when using an engine that had corrosion in it, the radiator clogged pretty quickly.  Replaced the engine for clean one along with the radiator, and has been going strong ever since.

i called advanced about this, they said they didnt have one in stock, but it was not 60mm core, it was ~44mm core. 

they said they often retrofit NA cars with there custom NB radiator, which is 60mm thick. my cars radiator is mounted like a normal NA though.

i am aware and can google for these parts. my real question is what are other 1.6L guys running and is that enough cooling capacity? its a shame koyo no longer makes the radiator in my car, and it doesn't feel right losing cooling capacity.

Definitely on the beefy and more expensive side, but I haven’t had any issues with it over the last 4 seasons on my car.

Proven to keep temps cool when bumpdrafting at Auto Club Speedway and even during triple digit weather at Thunderhill.

An edge of the oem fan box was rubbing on the plastic intake tube, but a tech official told me to sand down the edge to prevent a hole from being created there. I use the oem fan.

I've run the koyo and the SD. Here in Texas I had heating issues with the koyo. Water temp would get well into the 200s on poor cooling days sometimes over 210. Switched to the SD a few years ago. Worst cast temp is rarely over 200 now. Typically in the 180s.

Note I do not run a tstat except in January.
