Naw, not really, there's people not in agreement, but they hate being called a malcontent.
the hoosier rep i was talking with at solo nationals said a lot of things about the new SM8, including the possibility of it being a 195.
dunno what i think about that.
Gordon Kuhnley: Driving miata's in all conditions, courses, and motorsports that I can.
In the Penske shock test power point it said they used the SM8 and the SM7. Someone should have details but maybe they can't disclose them.

I've heard the SM8 will have less outright grip but the trade-off is more cycles at that slightly lower grip level.
Curious to learn how the two tires behave between the two shock types as that PDF/presentation they put together didn't really provide that clear of an answer.
Testing is on going for a proposed tire change. Date of possible implementation is TBD at this time.
Yeah. I know. Just pointing out that I am voting with my wallet. I'm sure I'm not alone. Both orgs are losing money to sm crossover....maybe only in sm, so maybe it doesn't matter.
I don't expect the scca to care...Todd's response seems in line with that belief. This thread, started by xav, seems to indicate that maybe nasa does..
Anyway, I started in nasa, so that's where I will stay until they screw up their product enough to make me change.
Well....7 months later, and here we are. NASA has managed to DO EXACTLY THAT ----^^^^^^^^^. Looks like I'm switching to SCCA for 2019.
So, any new scoop on the SCCA SM 2019 tires? As a MOP guy, I could run the RR for a LOOONG time. And the RA-1 as the rain tire has been similar---as long as the track doesn't dry out mid-session they will last for years for the MOP/BOP racers at the regional level.

I have no official info on that but I do know they were testing the new shock with Hoosier tires, so I assume it will not be Toyo or some other brand in the new contract. I would assume, Guess, that they will announce soon after the they are done with and settle on the shock development. But i am guessing. Maybe i should just say "i don't know"
