SM Drivers,
We are a month away from Thunderhill in August! Hot? Maybe…maybe not? Come prepared with shade and water! NASA will certainly come prepared with food and beverages for the Saturday evening BBque as well as clay targets for a little front straight Trap shooting!
And BTW…we will be running backwards! Always fun and the whole weekend so plenty of time for 1st timers to figure it out!
BONUS!!!! Because we have had great attendance in our first 4 events NASA is rewarding us with additional track time…30 minutes worth to be exact! 4 sessions on Saturday(additional Qual for Sunday race 1) and 3 on Sunday(20 warm up, 2-30 min races!)
BONUS 2!!!! We will have a random drawing after the end of Race 1 on Saturday. 5 participants will win $100 off registration for the final Sonoma event in October. To be eligible you have to be present and run at least 1 earlier event this season!
BONUS 3!!!! 1 random driver will win FREE entry into the final Sonoma event in October. Good luck everyone!
Some Housekeeping notes and Dates!
1. National Championships @ COTA Sept 13-16, 2018. If you are still on the fence…let us know if we can help make it possible for you! This should be the largest attended event in SM history…be part of it!
2. Money saving tip…sign up no later than the Sunday prior to the event to get in at the normal rate. Entries from Monday to Wednesday. noon are charged an additional $50. Registration CLOSES at 12noon Wednesday. At this point show up Saturday morning at the track and reluctantly pay your $100 late fee! But NASA thanks you for still showing up!
3. https://form.jotform...ency-compliance
You should have all received the email about changes to contingency claims. Link above for form and here is a cut and paste version of what the email said:
Starting on July 15th, 2018 NASA will be implementing a change to the compliance form submission requirements. In an effort to improve contingency program processes and to ensure that all vehicles and drivers are compliant with the contingency requirements, all contingency compliance forms that are filled out at the track must be filled out the same day or a day before you are trying to claim a contingency.
For example, if you are trying to claim contingency for the Saturday race, your contingency compliance form must be submitted and dated on or before the Saturday you are competing. Friday during the race weekend is acceptable as long as there is a NASA Official available at the track to verify compliance and sign your form. Compliance forms completed on Sunday during the race weekend are only applicable to Sunday claims.
All submissions are verified by NASA National staff. Contingency submissions not meeting the above requirements after July 15th, 2018 will be denied.
4. Regional Championship points to date. https://speedhive.my...pionships/70544
Remember, points earned at COTA count towards Regional Championship points.
The last Sonoma event in October is Double points!
There will be a total of 4 races dropped to come up with final points.
A DQ cannot be used as a drop.
A huge THANK YOU to Shaunna and Renaud who hosted our Sonoma Barbeque last event! It was a great success! Look for our group to plan something for the final Sonoma weekend!
That’s about enough for now! See everyone in a few weeks. Sign up early and often!
