Just in case anyone is wondering, I have raced at Sebring at least twice per year for the last 10 years. I even set a lap record of 2.36.915 back in 2009, but since then my lap times in SM have been a bit shy of the mark

 

Yet today, with the new Penske Shocks, I ran  5 consecutive laps, all within 0.4sec of my fastest lap. Two of my lap times were in the 2:34.9s range - almost 2 seconds a lap faster than what I ran in 2009, and faster than I have ever run before.

 

So for any of you sitting on the fence, get off it, buy yourself the latest offer and come racing and show what you have to show

I like the Penskes a lot as well, they are great around this bumpy place. However IMO, the times are due much more to the weather, not the shocks.. How do I know? Well bc that little $%^& Preston in our paddock has run several mid 34 second laps on Bilsteins. I feel like my car is good and I am driving well, but I don't have close to the times that Preston Elivan and even Danny are running, perhaps a few others. It seems those three are a bit ahead and perhaps out of reach for me . We will have our work cut out for us. my best was 35.4.

Jim, not disputing the weather was a factor in the times, but I have run at Sebring on cold days with sun on the track on several occasions, and not come close to those times. In fact I think MY fastest Bilstein time ever is around 2:35.6., and that was in a draft and a single lap at those times. But those 5 laps yesterday were in traffic, no draft on the back straight and they were consecutive laps faster than my previous best

 

The reason I credit the Penske's with the improvement is that I have never had a car that behaved as well as mine did yesterday. Did everything I asked of it, and was totally predictable. Most of those that I spoke to say they liked the feel of the new shocks and the confidence they inspire. 

 

And who knows, if Preston was on Penske's he actually might even be faster!!!! Heaven help us!

Preston was almost in another league at the Turkey Trot too.  Only say almost because Danny was able to hang but only while giving 120%.   I know the field wasn't nearly as deep then, but he was on his game.  I am afraid for you all when he installs Penskes....

The field wasn't as deep at the Turkey Trot? Well excuse TF out of me. I was there at the turkey trot, and not at the majors, so if you ask me ... the turkey trot had a lot more depth of talent

Is #96 Thomas in a 99 red/blue/silver from Indiana? IIRC he has oval track experience and last year was his first year in Spec Miata.

One might interpret depth as the distance from top to bottom, so...
