SCCA Regional Racing is in trouble and we think we have the answer, Team Bracket Endurance Challenge. A group of us has been working on an exciting new concept to attract new racers and experienced racers that may have parked their non-competitive race car. Here are the highlights:

1. Team racing concept. Two or more drivers share one car for each race.

2. No classing. We will use a very simple bracket concept. No need for the latest and greatest go-fast parts.

3. One practice session, one short qualifying session and three 1-hour racers with required driver change.

4. We will be using SCCA Club Racing Experience Rules(CRE). No SCCA Competition license required.

I know of at least two other regions that are seriously considering a similar format to our Team Bracket Endurance Challenge. Details are still being worked out, but you can check out the concept here:

Wow, that's an ambitious weekend schedule with something for everyone.  I'll get my son out of economic retirement this year and we'll enter the bracket challenge hopefully with the '95.  Great opportunity to use some old tires and for a lot of people to get out and drive with a lower barrier to entry.  Maybe this will get some lurkers out of retirement and some newbie's will give it a whirl.  In karting they used to have mechanics races from time to time where the crews would square off in a race.  Great fun that was.  There are probably plenty of SCCA crew types that would love the chance to get out on the track who never or rarely do.  This is a good opportunity for that.  The Motorstate Challenge looks interesting.  Will be like a rolling car show.
