1. Thunderhill Reward$ - Out of the total $50,000 allocated to the program, Miatas are eligible for $26,800 of prize money. Details/schedule: http://www.sfrscca.o...ntent/view/9286 Run a sticker on either side of your car and you can win at these events. Don't ask me how miatas fit into ITB/ITC/ITR, but a 1.6 won $300 this past weekend!
2. Sunoco returns with $10,000 of prize money this year (details/schedule: http://www.sfrscca.o...ntent/view/9345) To be eligible you have to have a Sunoco sticker on either side of your car, a recent receipt for $25 or more of Sunoco fuel from any Sunoco vendor and add your name to a form at Race Administration (Registration). I won $300 last year!
3. And something new for 2011: TOYO BUCKS! Thanks to Ron Cortez and AIM Tire, Toyo is now providing Toyo Bucks to SCCA SM and Sealed SM competitors. (Details: http://www.sfrscca.o...ntent/view/9344) The awards going to the Top 5 SM competitors at each race and there is a $250 certificate awarded to an SSM driver by random drawing at each event:
- 1st = $150
- 2nd = $100
- 3rd = $75
- 4th = $50
- 5th = $25
At our Thunderhill season opener this past weekend, 5 miata drivers walked away with $2,300 in cash: David Allen, Matt Rose, David Vodden, April Halliday and David Petruska. AIM awarded another $1300 of Toyo Bucks and April Halliday won $150 of Sunoco money in ITA. Full results from the weekend are here: http://www.sfrscca.o...erhillapril.pdf
Miatas are able to drive in Groups 1, 5 and 7 (in a variety of IT and ST classes in addition to SM/SSM) so the chances to win are high. This won't pay your rent but it might cover a lot of tow vehicle fuel! Hope this gives some of you NASA regulars a reason to come out and try running with the SCCA! Feel free to drop me a line with any questions.
