Another good one for sure, despite the weak turnout.

Remind me why it’s so hard to get people to make the trip? Do you really need more incentive than it being an HST event? There isn’t much else to choose from in the middle of the country guys, and Hallett is a great place to showcase your driving and race craft rather than horsepower. It’s priced right and it’s only Fri-Sun with the test day.

We have not been able to make the trip due to my schooling, but hopefully next year we can make it as I have been wanting to go to Hallett for a couple years now.

congrats Jim.

Often up north here, SM is the first group out and when the temps are below 38 degrees I always go to the the chief steward and ask for two out laps to scrub tires. sometimes i get it, some times i don't, but to me its a safety issue and when asked they should give it to you. for liability reasons if nothing else.

As for a 24 car field, for the Super Tour, mostly I’d hope for more than two serious contenders for the podium. Perhaps it comes down to a very simple question: “If I have to miss one HST...?” I suppose I’d get that for people who normally run in the east & SE, just seems a shame. Not sure why more TX folks don’t show, is OK not flat and featureless enough for them?

And St Louis is filled with mountains? :)

Actually I adore the track and the atmosphere. If I had not been in the Middle East on a project last week, I would have raced. Not that I would have challenged anyone for the win! It’s not a bad drive from Dallas, but for a bunch of the racers from Houston, it’s quite a haul.

All that said, I hope to get there next year.

Compared to Houston, absolutely. But we’re talking about Hallett.

I had fun as always and I love the hospitality that Connie shows. I continue to run magnitudes better this season and finished respectively and without so much as a tire mark. Friday and Sunday had decent weather, but Saturday was absolutely abysmal. It's about the same distance from most of DFW to Hallett vs. Houston so I always make the trek.

St Louis, and the surrounding areas, have plenty of hills and equal to NE Oklahoma. I loved the 4 years I spent there in the mid-nineties and in fact I had Imo's pizza last night.

Hey Now!  Us Texans love Hallett---precisly for its unique terrain, Connie, the general Vibe at the track, the infield camping, and being able to watch the racing at almost every corner of the track.  ....AND THE CHICKEN SONG!

Its on the NASA TX schedule in June.   And, the NASA June race has typically had a better turnout that the HST race does (with MOSTLY TX only people)---last year was over 30 cars, IIRC.  Last year, I think Gas head and Xfactor combined had more SMs at the NASA Halllett than this HST had SM entries.

We have this same conversation about this race every year.

Late to the party but i want to congratulate Jim on his two wins this past weekend.  He drove smart races both days and was able to come out on top. I have to say that going two-wide over 7-8 was pretty entertaining from the drivers seat.  I'm sure it was a surprise to the spectators when we popped over the hill side by side going into turn 9.  I picked up a ton of marbles and rubber on the right side tires and wasn't sure it would stick in turn 9 but Jim gave room and we made it through.

I have to say, Sunday's qualifying was one of the few Q sessions that was a lot of fun.  Jim and I traded turns at the top and he came in a little early, up 2 tenths or so on me.  I had one more lap as they threw the checkered behind me.  I looked down at my predictive coming out of turn 6 and was in the green but figured it would only be equal or slower than Jim's 27.1.  I nailed 9 but lost a little again in 10 and was able to squeak into the 26's.  This was probably the only time I remember ever giving a fist pump after qualifying on pole.  Poles aren't wins and shouldn't be celebrated as such, however, I'd be a liar if I said I didn't have a huge grin on my face when I saw that lap time.

Congrats to Chris and Trevor on their podiums this weekend as well.

See you in Virginia!  Fair warning, every race I have been to over the last 6 months has been cold, raining, or both.

The fastest I went all weekend was 137 down the turnpike in a Civic with Karl driving us to the casino. Equally as scary as going into 9 2-wide. :)
