Let's get some cars entered in the bracket race being offered at this event at Gingerman less than 3 weeks away.  Cars classed by a bracket system means you race against cars/drivers of similar lap times.  My understanding is that both single driver and 2 or 3 driver teams can enter (single drivers will have a mandatory pit stop).  Good track time with 3 one-hour races during the weekend.  Any car that meets safety requirements can enter along with new drivers with track day experience.  A full competition license not required.

Should be a fun weekend.  Bring your old tires, your old or new car and your friends/crew/family that want to give it a try.

We have tried the bracket enduro in the Central Florida Region and it has been unsuccessful. I hope you have better luck up there.

What do you mean it has been unsuccessful? Both years have been cut short by rain, especially last year, but we licensed several new racers and brought a few Champcar racers into the club. I know you have an inside track to the club leadership, do they really think the Bracket Enduro is not successful, or do they credit the rain? Last year I brought 2 guys from the Porsche Club and got them licensed, they had a good time and thought it was a good idea.

I think it's a fantastic addition to the event.

I understand where you are coming from, and I am glad you brought people out, but that wasn't exactly what I was referring to.  I am referring to the number of entered drivers competing in the bracket enduro classes itself.  Last year, there were 29 drivers entered on the short course, which is good, however 16 of those entrants were in the school or getting off novice permits.  They were on track at the same time as the Bracket Enduro, which I don't really have a problem with, but you could do that with any Enduro really.

In the actual race classes:

BE1: Four cars

BE2: One car

BE3: Two cars

BE4: One car

So yes, it is unsuccessful when you have just eight cars on track racing for three hours. Rain cutting it short has nothing to do with entries and cars that started the race.  So, in summary, I am not saying it is a bad idea of getting Non-SCCA licensed drivers on track, and getting them racing licenses with the SCCA ... I am only talking about number of entries in the race itself.

Yes, you are absolutely correct when viewed from that perspective.

Have any of those 16 drivers from the school become regulars, or at least come back to some other events (especially the ones who earned licenses)?

Having 16 new members could be huge success, especially if its new members, not NASA and SCCA cannibalizing each other.

We have to try something new up here in Northern Conference for regional racing, our numbers are not improving in the traditional format. Our goals are to get new people to race with us and create something current SCCA members can enjoy. Suggestions are always welcome.

I know the 2 guys I brought in from PCA have raced in a couple of SCCA events. Can't vouch for the other 14.
