Dumping NOLA for COTA is/was a mistake.  Last year, I just didn't have the common sense to skip COTA and I thought NOLA being off the schedule was some sort of scheduling conflict.

Racing/Passing is hard as F at NOLA.  You have to steal it and commit to being freight trained if you don't make it stick.  Having one track on schedule that isn't draft centric would be nice.

Totally with you on this Michael - NOLA is a drivers track. It is all about finesse.

Raced there for the first time last month....with NASA NOLA region.  I was rusty AF, after only driving once in the last 28 months.  But, I had a blast...despite the mixed class racing.  Deceptively fast track.

I do have a new most-hated car, however, Spec Corevette...ok, really covette's in general.

If what I am hearing is correct, NOLA will not be coming back on the schedule which is a shame. All of us liked the track and New Orleans a lot.

I am in if we want to rent the track and run a sm/srf only weekend with 3-4 races.. Or maybe back the local region and they can call it whatever they like and see if we all go?   I bet Sydney would help us

I’m down. Much rather spend bigger entry fee to get as many races as we can.

Cosign. Great track, great destination and from my understanding it was a healthy race. No local scca region though to really drive it (as far as i know. When i lived there the autocross group was huge) and even the NASA group there is mostly TT and HPDE centric.

Doesnt road atlanta have that date now? Thats an easy choice for most. But NOLA can be run during winter comfortably as opposed to the miserable weather weve had in Feb at COTA.

Anyways if we wanna do our own thing im in. Do it around mardi gras and we'll all have to camp. Call it Spec miati gras.

NOLA was always a good time and I'm sure I could get people to come down for that if it's in the "off" season between October and April.

Put me down for Spec Miata Gras!

If you need to scratch that itch.. use those left over Toyo's and run in the off season: https://www.nasapror...com/events/2972

I was hoping it was going to be back on the schedule. One of my favorite track...If not I was going to do a regional once the schedule comes out.

Why was it dropped???

Email today from the new General Manager at NOLA, Dennis Lomonaca. NOLA wants to get back in the sights of NASA and SCCA and with the right people (3 champs on this thread alone), interest and motivation, it shouldn't be that difficult.

Hi John,

Over the last few months, I have had the pleasure of leading the NOLA Motorsports team. After a commitment from our ownership, we have spent over $175,000.00 on park improvements. From smoothing out bumps on the North Track to relandscaping the park, the facility is looking fantastic. While the title of General Manager is new for me, I have been around the park for about six years now.

Although I have spent the last four months on the paddock for almost every event we have hosted, I haven't officially had a moment to personally introduce myself to everyone. I have spoken to folks who were members from before we had asphalt on the ground to people who just stopped by to drive a go-kart. The stories and memory all most always end in the same statement... I love this park, and I am willing to help in any way I can.

Last week, I stood on the paddock with the events team from Michelin; they couldn't stop talking about how amazing our facility was. Michelin has had events all over the world. Still, according to them, NOLA Motorsports was the only facility that allowed for the use of a road course, rally course, autocross pad, as well as access to high-class buildings.

Our small but mighty team showed up in a massive way to make their international first-of-its-kind event a success. It was the first park buyout in a long time.

I know in the past there were talks about the park being closed, sold, downsized, and many other things. While there have been some rough patches, I can proudly say that scenario is not where we are currently as a facility. In fact, we are currently working on plans for the park for years to come.

Our future–from our members, guests, staff and ownership–is secure. I intend to use this as fuel to drive the vision of the path ahead. With the year ahead, our focus will be on growing our community of motorsports. From cars, bikes, karts, drifting, and off-road, our commitment is to improve our services and programs to allow people who are just getting in their first drive to professional racers.

While I know we have many things to focus on as we move ahead, one thing that is a significant focus for us is our communication. In the coming weeks, we are relaunching our website and our marketing plans. I am excited to be able to show off what we are working on. In the meantime, if you haven't been here in a while, come and visit.

Thanks,

Dennis Lomonaco

I wanted to try and get all of us to go do one of the NASA events there as most will want to qualify for Daytona anyway. The NASA dates all conflicted with my schedule. I was willling to throw out some contingency as well :(

If anyone is serious about making this happen, contact Chris Carver at Chris Carver Motorsports/NASA NOLA Region.  We were talking about this thread this weekend.  Hes working with NASA NOLA nowadays but could also maybe make a separate weekend happen.
