As I recently posted, I'm putting together my sim racing rig.  I *thought* I was going to go with Oculus Rift-S VR headset, as they have a list price of $400.  However, they are listed as "out of stock" at my usual places like Newegg, and are listed for close to $ 700 on Amazon!  What is going on?  Is there a (hopefully temporary) shortage?

So, I finally got my Oculus Rift S VR headset for Christmas.  Prices did come back down again, toward the end of the summer.  And, I have to say, they are *amazing* for sim racing!  Having 3-D depth perception, and the ability to turn your head and see what you would expect to see, in any direction, is a real game-changer on the simulated race track.  However, I can see where being prone to motion sickness could be a problem for some.  Especially in a spin, your eyes are telling your brain one thing, but your inner ears are not giving the same info.  The brain gets confused, and sends out a distress call to the pit of your stomach.  After a few hours on the simulator, I have gotten used to it, and it is no longer a problem.

I am using Assetto Corsa, and am starting to learn how to develop my own cars and tracks.  It is frustrating that none of the popular sim racers, such as AC or iRacing, have NA or NB Spec Miata cars available.  You would think that, being the single most popular amateur race cars in the world, they would be available!  AC has a street-tuned NA, but no ability to adjust tires, ride height, or suspension, to make it closer to a SM car.

If anyone out there has an interest in sim racing, and in developing cars and tracks for Assetto Corsa, I would love to hear from you.

I've been iRacing in MX-5 Global Cup Cars (ND) and have had ups and downs.  It's very frustrating sometimes and really fun other times.  I'd love to get a VR headset but my car just continues to suck money and time so I just haven't gotten there yet.
