Didn’t take the time to read all the posts. If the car creeps in gear with the clutch pedal pushed and also doesn’t stall or move with authority the disk is installed backwards.

it doesnt creep when in gear with the clutch pushed. clutch fully disengages. this also isnt the first time ive done clutches in maitas,

Have somebody outside of the car watch the rear cv shaft nuts. Put car in gear and let out the clutch. It is possible you broke a rear hub flange and it is spinning inside itself

... all the power going there except the little bit the viscous diff sends to the good side, making it creep forward. Hey, I like that. Except I think he did claim to manually work the diff and shafts? Still, never trust an eye witness...

Be sure to post the find, when you find it. Two last points. Yes you can install the clutch disk backwards, DON'T ask me how I know, The other point is, and i am not the expert here, and not sure that this makes a difference, but when you have the fly wheel turned down they have to turn down the pick up points that the pressure plate bolts up too. To get the working distance correct.

just laid under it while my assistant did the brake test. its the diff. everything spins normally when in gear, and then when you push the brakes, the driveshaft keeps spinning, and the half shafts stop. also when the diff is spinning, you can see some runout on the drivers side output shaft ... bet the bearing in there busted.

ill also report if i change the diff and it still doesn't work. but now im 99% sure its a bad diff. be interesting to take it apart and see why it seems to work to the hand, but doesn't when actual forces are applied to it.

update, cause i too hate it when folks dont post the solution to weird problems. back when i had a 944 turbo id find a thread perfectly describing my issue from 2007, with no resolution and be like "shit porscheballerbro112, WHAT DID YOU SEE!!!"

it was the diff. new diff and it works fine.

even outside of the car, the diff, by hand, feels fine. like it rotates all the right directions when pushed by hand. im really curious to take it apart and see what happened inside. hell, the gears might even be good.

Glad it’s fixed, but I’m going to need someone to draw me a picture ‘cuz I don’t get it. Did you drain the fluid? Did the replacement diff already have stub axles? If so pop the old ones out.
