Spec MX-5, NC cars and '21

What are the latest thoughts on the various venues for NC cars?   

 

Seems to be competitive in T4.  

 

Spec MX-5?  .....looks to have a lot of Mazda support and a good '21 schedule.    Class gaining support despite Covid in '20?  Opinions from folks that have raced the series and/or plan to in '21?  Seems like a number of the cars that were built to be SMX5 have jumped to T4 and/or STL.

 

Who is renting SMX5 cars in '21?

NCs make great T4 cars, unfortunately the head, pistons, wheels, and single adjustable Penske shocks make Spec MX-5s not compliant in T4.

We have 2 very well sorted SMX cars for sale or rent this season and one T4 build in progress. X-Factor also has builds in progress.

The series is splitting into regions across the country. I expect it will be strong in certain parts of the country and other parts may have trouble with car count. The current schedule allows everyone to compete without traveling the country.

Tom Fowler won in T4 this weekend at COTA in an MX-5. Not a track where you would expect it to shine, and it was also his first time there, but as we all know, he is one serious wheelman

We are building one in the Northwest and I hear there are 2 others being built this winter up here.  the plan is to race a couple Northern California races for the MX5 series and then fill in with Lucky dog or STL.  It's hard to find a strong class up here beside SM and SRF but I think Spec MX-5 has a chance.
