Hey everyone very new to SM and need some help

I set my seat in my miata and found where I think I like it, but the seat back angle is 30 deg's

the seat is an ultrashield spec maita my seat back angle is at a 30 deg angle and the head portion of the seat is at 15 deg's

I'm 5'9 is that a bit to much?

The other half of the question is about the hans. I have a 20 series hans and from what I read the 20 is what is best for sports cars and the 30 series is for forumla cars

However does this number refer to seat back angle? 20 series is for 20 deg seat back? or is 20 mean for the head portion of the seat?

In general, the 20 series is what you want. The 30 being for formula cars, which have your back more angled, but your head still rather upright. If you are really barrel chested you might get away with the 30. Set your seat angle to what you are comfortable in that allows you proper control of the car, i.e.; correct distance from the steering wheel and pedals.

I think the 20/30 refers to the angle of the body of the HANS device.
as said above, 30 for more laid back cars like openwheelers.

There are no absolutes. People have different length legs torsos and arms. In general, I'd say you'll probably want a 20* HANS.

You want your seating position so that your legs are mostly extended but you can operate the pedals easily. You don't want to be too stretched out to reach the wheel, but not crunched up so you can't turn it 90* in either direction without changing your hand position. You want as much head clearance as possible should you put the "roll" in roll cage.

There are compromises involved. I'm about 5'11" +/- with a 20* seat tilted back a bit. I seem to have long arms so where I like my legs, I like my arms stretched out more than others. I use a 20* HNR device and it suits me well.

Formula cars you're more prone than seated. Unless you have gorilla arms, you're probably going to want the 20* device.

According the folks at HANS if you're a bigger racer, it's acceptable to use a 30* in an upright arrangement. For example, I have a 54" chest and a 20" neck. The 20* is like a choke collar. And that's in a hobby stock where I don't have to lay the seat back like in the Miata. In my case, a 30* is more appropriate.

The large. The smaller, or regular sized guys use the 20*.

Quick question, I just got my SM ultrashield seat today, what seat rail do you guys use and where can I buy it, thanks!

I fabbed up mounts from 3/16th x 1" steel.
