I haven't seen anything on their website talking about a continuation of the series - was nice to get an extra race at with them Road Atlanta. Has anyone seen news/update?

I click the "Printable Entry Form" on each event's page on the SVRA site. If there is a Miata Heritage Group it appears on the pdf. Auto Club (Fontana), Road Atlanta, NOLA, Road America, Lime Rock, Mid Ohio, Portland, New Jersey, Willow Springs, Utah, and COTA list a Miata group. Sebring, Charlotte, Laguna Seca, Sonoma, Ridge (WA), Indy, Watkins Glen, and VIR (this sucks) do not.

For events that do show a Miata group the entry fee is $375, which seems pretty reasonable to me. I was told by SVRA staff that a Miata can enter any event however sprint race entry fees are $745+ (non-member, some venues are higher) No thank you.

Take all this at face value as I do not represent the SVRA.

I spoke to SVRA this morning as I noticed the adding back in of the Mazda Heritage Group on the .pdf's as well.  They said contact them next week and they will update it

Nice!  They didn't have the Miata stuff on the site when they ran their black friday special (100 off a race entry).  They canceled last year's VIR "miata" race and said I could enter another class that covered miatas, which wasn't interesting to me.

I signed up for 2 races anyway at the "full rate" knowing they would put me in Group 3 on their Black Friday special.  Now I get will get a credit and sign up for another race perhaps.  As I spoke to them yesterday morning, wait until next week and they should have it fully published/announced.

Just signed up for Road Atlanta - This event pays no matter how you place. $100 from Mazda and last year it paid $100 in hawk product for a win. (They make a good brake fluid.)

“There are two classes for Miatas - 1990-1997, NA Miatas and the 1999-2005, NB Miatas. Mazda Motorsports is offering every Miata Heritage Cup entry a $100 contingency bonus regardless of finishing position and number of class starters. Sign up for one race or the whole series, entry is open for all events!“

maybe we want to change the name of the thread. a casual viewer/reader might take it face value.

I enjoyed the SVRA races we had local. i might make it out to Road America this year. sadly no BIR races this year. last year we ran in a mixed group and me showing up in the mirrors of the muscle cars sure was a bit of shock for some of the drivers :)

I'll run Road America for sure with SVRA, not sure about Road Atlanta.   Hope to see you all there!

I've been thinking about running the June Sprints with my 1.6L just to see how it goes.  I'd sure like them to give us the header first...

I don't know for sure, but it appears the Miata Heritage Series is toast. An individual, separate race group no longer appears on any event entry forms and in recent events Miatas have been grouped with small-bore sportscars. SVRA took a great idea and FUBAR'd it in short order. C'est la vie.

Dennis, did you notice Fornetti qualified 4th at the 2022 June Sprints in his Rossini 1.6?

I DID notice that. I also noticed that has nothing to do with the existence, or nonexistence, of SVRA's Miata Heritage Series.

Yes, they are running it in 2023 and there is information on the Mazda Motorsports contingency page.  They will reimburse us $100 for attending an event, which I thought was very nice of them.

On the SVRA event page none of the remaining 2023 events indicate that there is a Miata only group (Miata Heritage Group). Miatas get mixed in with other small bore makes (Groups 1, 3, 4 and 5b). At VIR, for instance, the non-member entry fee is $895. Even with a $100 rebate that is too rich for me for two twenty minute races in a non-Miata-specific group.

I've emailed Kathy, SVRA registrar, to confirm.
