So a did a basic engine build over the winter and put in new Mazda freeze plugs with a little Permatex 1 (Form a gasket sealant). To my surprise, at least 5 of the plugs are leaking/weeping. I literally just started filling the radiator and haven’t even started the engine yet. Any suggestions? Something tells me I gotta pull the engine and fix all these again. I was pretty careful when pulling the old ones and don’t believe the scored the holes. I drove the new ones in straight. Not sure if they will seal up after bringing up to temp…
Update: After bringing the engine up to temp the plugs appear to have sealed up. They have not leaked overnight. Any one know if this normal? Guess I’ll put a few more heat cycles on it with increasing rpm’s and see how they hold up.
