What’s Changed Since Last Season?

While the 2024 Hoosier Super Tour schedule will seem familiar to many, the coming year will see some changes.

In years past, the second stop on the tour has been at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, TX. Due to driver demand, the second stop for 2024 will be at NOLA Motorsports Park in Avondale, LA, with that race taking place a week later than last year’s COTA round. Those campaigning multiple events in the Hoosier Super Tour season will notice that this has resulted in back-to-back competition weekends at NOLA and Buttonwillow Raceway Park.

Thunderhill Raceway Park will not return to the Hoosier Super Tour schedule in 2024, but the tour will make two West Coast visits on Feb. 23-25 at Buttonwillow Raceway Park and Portland International Raceway on May 11-12.

May 17-19 will see a return to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The Hoosier Super Tour hasn't been to Mid-Ohio in a few years, and when it gets there this time, the track will have been completely repaved. This event will be hosted by Ohio Valley Region, with the Region celebrating it's 75th anniversary in 2024.

With the 2024-’25 Runoffs taking place at Road America – along with the recent repaving of the circuit that is requiring drivers to redial in their cars and driving – SCCA is expecting this year’s final round of the 2024 Hoosier Super Tour at the Chicago Region June Sprints at Road America to draw quite a crowd. And we can’t wait.

Also of note is that an announcement for a 10th Hoosier Super Tour event will be made at a later date.

Beyond that, the 2024 Hoosier Super Tour will include a three-day schedule format change. In 2023, in an effort to add an additional run group on larger three-day weekends, the Friday morning practice session was removed in lieu of more groups and two qualifying sessions over two days. After considering feedback received from the driver community throughout the 2023 season, the decision was made to modify the format in 2024 to provide one practice session beginning Friday morning followed by a single qualifying session before racing begins on Saturday.

SCCA also looks forward to welcoming the newly announced SMX class to the 2024 Hoosier Super Tour weekends.

About the Hoosier Super Tour

Hoosier Super Tour venues are selected based on various attributes. Some have decades of history with a record book featuring the biggest names in all of motorsports. Other sites are top “pro” tracks offering the best quality racing surface and amenities. Certain tracks are included on the schedule because they are the best “club” courses in the country, where challenging layouts are matched with warm hospitality and a “family feel” to the paddock area.

The Hoosier Super Tour offers a heightened experience for both competitors and race fans, with the series boasting a live video broadcast featuring up to 12 cameras via DriverEye Live and a professional announcing team led by Brian Bielanski and Gregg Ginsberg, all streamed for free to SCCA’s YouTube channel and Facebook page. Weekends also include segmented timing and scoring, a service unavailable at most amateur motorsport events.

Dedicated staffing with a series race director, clerk of the course, timing team, administrator, and technical inspector working in conjunction with local event personnel is an additional feature of the Hoosier Super Tour. SCCA public relations staff provide weekend race coverage and post-race winner videos. Hoosier Super Tour dates also have enhanced weekend social activities for volunteers, drivers, crew, and family where applicable.

The Hoosier Super Tour serves as the Summit Racing Equipment SCCA Road Racing’s Nationwide Points Championship. The point structure remains the same as previous years with the best six Hoosier Super Tour races, plus a Runoffs finish, contributing toward points championship scoring. Point totals for the Hoosier Super Tour are maintained by SCCA national office staff and can be viewed at SCCA.com.

Only SCCA Full Competition License holders may register to compete at Hoosier Super Tour events. The Hoosier Super Tour also serves as a qualifying path to the SCCA National Championship Runoffs taking place later in the year.
