For anyone that stumbles onto this site...

If you are thinking about going Spec Miata racing, just do it.  Worried about a competitive car?  Just dive in and have some fun.  Run at the back, run Regional races... who cares, just get out and start living life at the race track.

My first race in the spring of 2016 I got lapped at Blackhawk.  Didn't have much money and I slept in the truck that weekend.

Didn't matter, I was hooked.

The next few races were more of the same, running 20th and maybe high teens.  There's no series quite like this one.  Lots of personalities and some absolute fantastic drivers.  Incredibly fast.  Some are solid crazy nuts too.

The old '90 was just what I needed.  8 years and lots of laps and dyno runs... qualifying 4th at the June Sprints 2022 has got to be the highlight of running my NA with the fast drivers.

But it's time to move on and a good friend of mine found me a '99 to build this winter.

Swapping my NA 1.6L for a NB1 during this off season!

And there goes all my excuses for not winning.

Hell yea completely agree!   Been racing and sharing a car with my 2 other friends for 5 years now.  It's not expensive when split between a couple people.  grab a few friends and go racing!

By the way, anybody know what gear oil is recommended for the Cusco LSD that Mazda sells for the 1.6?

We ran Redline 75-90 in our Mazdacomp 1.6L diff and we had planned to run the same with the Cusco.

Bench Racer - my NA 1.6L will be living it's next life at Autobahn Country Club
