New to SM

I got my car from a guy in GA and he said I could use the I/O port seat back brace, but for the life of me I could not get it to fit. The cross brace of the cage is to close to the rear deck and where the seat ends up I would have to angle the seat back brace down a bit. The I/O port was so snug in there even with out the bolts installed yet that I could never angle it correctly.

This is what I came up with. I do not plan to move the seat, I know I have know adjustment how it is mounted now.

The pic is pre welding

Hope its ok, thanks

I have a sparco circuit pro composite seat that is going to be out of date this year and I have to back brace it, I was going to use the above I/O brace. any recommendations regarding bolting the brace to the composite seat? Any issues?

also on my belts the expire in 2012 so are they good to 12/31/12 or are they no good after 1/1/12?

I am going to have to find the rule that discussed the seat back brace requirement and what complies with it. I looked at my setup there is only about 3 inches between the seat and the harness bar. and the harness bar sets right across from the belt holes in the seat I am not sure I can get a brace in there.

This is one of the Butler Built brackets to attach the seat to the cage. Evenly distributes the load.

My seat fits pretty close to the harness bar. I use an IO brace and had to trim it many many times before it fit scratching up the paint a bit until I got it right but it did fit with a slight but not steep angle. Serious PITA though.

I am ordering the I/O brace for my sparco composite seat. the instructions require that the brace be Horizontal to the seat. there is no way I can do that as the shoulder loop holes are directly across from the harness bar so the brace will have to be mounted at an angle down from the harness bar. if that makes sense. Still good to go I assume as everyone has to have this problem.

Directions:

Determine where on the seat back the mount needs to be to have the 1½â€ tubing horizontal* either above or below the shoulder harness bar on your roll bar. *Note: For quick adjustment, make sure the 1½â€ tubing is parallel to your seat rails. Mark this position on the seat. Remove the plastic coating on the clamp and box channel pieces. Place a clamp piece back-to-back with the box channel piece. Push the 4 carriage bolts through the 4 innermost holes in the box channel and through the first clamp piece. (For 1¾â€-2” tubing use the outermost holes.) Place this assembly under or over the harness bar of the roll bar and attach by using the second clamp piece and 4 Nylock nuts. Leave these nuts loose at this time.
