From what I could see from my vantage point, it looked like a clean, fun time. Congrats to Nash Lawson on the back-to-back poles and wins!
We had a decent variety of cars entered and the top 4 on Saturday consisted of two 1.6s, a 97, and a 99. Here is what we teched:
- weight
- restrictor plate size
- VIN check (chassis year)
- rear brake rotor diameter
- sway bar diameters
- camshaft lobe dimensions
Before anyone lynches me for measuring the cam lobes with a simple caliper, that inspection was intended to catch folks with the wrong cams, not folks nibbling around the edges of the rules. That seems appropriate for a 'regional' race. If you disagree, I am open to suggestion of items you would like to see teched that are similar (minimally invasive, but more than the usual weight-and-plate dance).
To those who weren't there, please come out and join us at a NASA Southeast event!!
Last but not least... Thank you to Nash Lawson, Matt McBride, Tim Voth and Keith Andrews for your patience and cooperation under the tech shed!!

great that you and NASA are going to the trouble of doing a thorough tech at a regional event. Unfortuantely for whatever reason at SCCA events in the SE Div we are not getting close to that amount of scrutiny at even our national events.

The VIN number check was one of those "what the hell, it sure ain't hard" things to check. Some years back there was something about an late 1.8 pop-up car registered and racing as an early 1.8 pop-up car (or vice versa) but I can't remember why that made a difference at the time. I don't know of anyone trying to pass off a car as something other than its generation, but with five combinations I thought I'd check.Just curious, Why the VIN Number check? Is there an issue with guys using a 01'+ chassis as a 99'?

Rumor is that we have one of those in Texas.
