Bought Dave's adjustable FPR. Nice piece of equipment. It is installed on
my 94 1.8 along with a Innovate AFR guage

Taking the car to a local dyno to find best AFR setting. My question
is what do I ask for? If I ask him to find the "Best power" AFR won't
that be too lean? Should we find "Best power" and then add a little fuel for
safety?

The dyno guy will prob know all this but I like to go into stuff with some
knowledge of whats going on.

Melted a piston on a Seadoo 2 stroke a couple of weeks ago so I have a new
respect for the term "Too Lean".

Thanks

I believe the number you are looking for(AFR)is 12.9-13.3?? I'm not a tuner...just going off memory when we did ours. A certain area of your rpm range will be lean(lower I think)but its the upper end you want good. I think we settled at 37/38lbs fuel pressure. Please someone correct me if my memory is bad!!

With a '94 the adjustment is going to be a bit of a compromise. If you adjust for ideal near the top end (6000 - 7000) you'll probably be a bit leaner than ideal below that. The best compromise might mean you're a bit rich at the top end but will like the slighty better torque/power from about 4750 - 6000. You'll have to look at your own live results at the dyno rather than target any certain number as each motor differs a little along with fuel/timing/spark plug/ECU/air flow meter selections... and just to piss you off the air temp/humidity on race day will give you different numbers depending on the weather that day.
