I like the passanger side but I have a Petty Bar that makes that impossible, so min sits on a custom made bracket in the trunk - that also makes it real easy to fill and empty between sessions, especially when you have back to back races. Also easy to refill during enduors - not so easy on passanger side.
The rear could use the weight (closer to the right side), but I wasn't sure it was legal to modify the trunk floor for a non safety item. So I put mine in the passenger seat area.

I removed the spare tire and jack brackets
Did you do it while driving on the track and someone took a picture and you are now using that as your avatar?

Mind posting pics?
Here goes. I learned that I should have left more room to the tail panel of the car so I could have mounted it the other way. The pump side sits very high and it takes quite a bit of water to submerse it. If I had left more room so as not to kink the hoses to get them around to the passenger compartment it would take less water initially to make it work. Also, it is a little too close to the trunk latch. I guess 4 more holes in the mounting pan won't hurt anything.
