To the guys with 99+ cars: Where did you mount the cooler for the cool suit? My first thought was passenger floor. Someone suggested in the trunk but there really isn't a flat place in the trunk big enough with the cone shape of the floor and all of the hold down bracketry from the spare and jack.

A sledge hammer will easily create the flat spot you need in the trunk.

I really asked because it seemed to me I would want the weight in the middle of the car. Or would it be beneficial in the rear? I am 240 lbs with all my gear on if it matters.

I like the passanger side but I have a Petty Bar that makes that impossible, so min sits on a custom made bracket in the trunk - that also makes it real easy to fill and empty between sessions, especially when you have back to back races. Also easy to refill during enduors - not so easy on passanger side.

The rear could use the weight (closer to the right side), but I wasn't sure it was legal to modify the trunk floor for a non safety item. So I put mine in the passenger seat area.

You could make a very good argument that a cool suit is a safety item.

I removed the spare tire and jack brackets and have both my fire bottle and cool suit cooler mounted in the trunk. I considered the sledge hammer route to flatten the bottom of the trunk but ended up fabricating an aluminium tray to hold the cooler. Super easy access and out of the way.

Did you do it while driving on the track and someone took a picture and you are now using that as your avatar? ;)

Nope, that's me trying to pass that tire.

I ended up cutting the spot welds on the spare tire holder next to the battery and cut off the hold down bracket. I found flat spots for 4 holes and used some rivnuts in the trunk floor with 1" aluminum spacers I had laying around. The tray for the cooler sits on the four spacers off the trunk floor.

Passenger floor for me. I use a tray when it's directly on the floor and strap it to my weight plates when I'm in SM trim. The trunk crushes too easily in crashes and I'd be out at least one cool suit cooler if I'd had it mounted back there...same with the fire bottle.

Here goes. I learned that I should have left more room to the tail panel of the car so I could have mounted it the other way. The pump side sits very high and it takes quite a bit of water to submerse it. If I had left more room so as not to kink the hoses to get them around to the passenger compartment it would take less water initially to make it work. Also, it is a little too close to the trunk latch. I guess 4 more holes in the mounting pan won't hurt anything.
