I would imagine Gorilla won. I hear there is only 1 person that can beat him and that person did not attend
Yup - tough break, but I couldnt make it!

Nick bettered Steve's best qualifying time by more than 3/10ths.
Starting grid was Nick, Steve, Elivan and Yannis.
Steve blew a shift at the green and fell back to almost DFL.
The video of Steve rocketing through the pack to get to about 8th by T5.....priceless.
Thanks for the link to the results Terry and many thanks for our own Qualifier and Race.
Another great weekend in NJ!

Meathead Racing had three cars. We had a great time and a super exciting finish where Ted Cahall was able to slip into 9th place and earn some national championship points. I will say that without a doubt there were several cars who qualified significantly faster than they ran the race.
Mike
What are saying? People caught out on conditions or people gaming the system?
Did anyone run their qualifying times?
I typical can run .5 or so faster in qualifying than in the race, some tracks more some tracks less. That first hot lap with good tires and low fuel and cool engine is worth 1 second easily if you can capitalize.

To qualify 5th in a National with such a deep field is pretty amazing.
Unfortunately Amy messed up in the race!

I'm just trying to figure out who Mike is referring too. Most drivers at this race were < 0.5 sec delta qual vs. race.

Although without Q1 available on MyLaps I'm missing data.

It was shared with the T & SS cars, many of which share lap times with the Miata field but get there in very different ways.
Also, the air and track temps were significantly cooler in the morning session.
My estimate is about 1 second quicker in the morning, if you could get a clean lap.
I got two in 25 minutes.
Danny, I think Amy might have had some car issues between her qualifying lap and the race.
But, after a terrible start, I came up on Whit a couple laps before the checker and he was driving better than I've ever seen.
Kept me behind him to the checker, he did.
Time for a husband/wife grudge match?

I spoke with her the other day....her comment was keeping things on the pavement is a big help to finishing well in the race! Whit beat her both days even though she out qualled him both times.
She also had a missed shift somewhere in there that could not have helped.
