Part IV:Roll Cage
I was able to get a good Xmas deal on a MiataCage.com roll cage kit as well as an ultrashield seat. I had a local friend in Greenville, SC who is an EXTREMELY good welder so i sent the car to him. He had never done a cage before, but I had no doubts. One thing i forgot was to gut the doors before i sent it to him but i gave him some measurements and incredibly he was able to get the door bars to with in 1/2cm of the outer door skins! absolutely incredible! Another afterthought was the placement of the main hoop cross bar. I had mocked up the seat imagining the top of the roll cage and the hard top, but i had forgotten the fact that i would have my helmet on and there would be over an inch of padding on the roll bar. Make sure you know EXACTLY where your seat will be so you don't have to make changes to lower the belt bar later on...
