What I got For Christmas

Well, Christmas has gone by and what do I have to show for it? My wallet is much thinner, belly much thicker... But my wife is happy (which is the most important item on a driver's check list)! I will certainly have lots of work ahead of me in order to get myself down to race weight this year, but a little vacation next week should help jump start that.
What did I get under the tree? Well, not much and a whole lot at the same time. I was able to sweet talk my wife and parents into splitting a HANS for me for Christmas. Using the "you don't want me to die" pitch seemed to help my cause. On top of that, I got a new 2005 helmet. I went with a 2005 because I don't think my helmets last that long, and $60 savings was pretty nice. I'd say that is one hell of a Christmas!
I have some more items to purchase and install before the 2011 season starts, so I think January will be "Set-Up Month" for me. I need a good corner weight balance, and alignment, I need to install my Hoosiers (not to mention purchase 2 more), and I need some items to complete my build. I still need a new seat because I want to get rid of my carbon fiber one for an FIA seat. I also need up-to-date harnesses, a fire bottle, and a fuel test port. Not to mention I need to get a torq wrench on all of the cars bolts (If I learned anything by owning a lotus is that bolts come lose).
So which seat is on my mind?
I am planning on purchasing a Sparco EVO seat. I have had a Momo Start, Sparco Evo, and currently have a Tillett B6. Out of all of these, I have always liked the Sparco best. Not a cheap purchase by any means. I want to purchase an FIA seat mainly so I won't need a seatback brace. It will be mounted to FIA approved sliders since my car will be used as a rental/enduro car. Unfortunately it looks like the FIA seats actually DO expire so I am not too keen on spending a whole lot for something that will inevitably be tossed... so I may end up changing my mind at the last minute and buying an All-you-min-EE-um one and a seat back... who knows...
I have already received a majority of my 2011 schedule, and it looks like I will be quite busy this year! Hopefully my time spent setting up the car in January will pay off and my car will be a rocket ship!
I can't wait for the season to start... I am getting antsy!
