Part V: Paint
GOD painting the car was a bad idea. I couldn't believe how many hours i put into a RACE CAR paint job, but something wouldn't let me cut corners on this one. Well over 100 hours into sanding and priming each panel to ensure perfection. I'm glad I did this because i learned so much and I'm pretty darn good at painting now, but i would just send it off to maaco next time....
I built a paint booth out of an old car port I had and slapped two box fans with furnace filters at each end. It worked pretty well although I occasionally had to slow down when it got too fumy. I wore a full painters suit and a 3m mask (about 35.00) to keep me alive while painting .
*After painting the exterior i used a rattle can rhino lining to paint the interior and trunk. I don't have any pictures of this process, but i used about 10 cans and you can see the results in the crappy cell phone pictures in the assembly phase.
