#101887 High Plains Raceway Majors Aug 19-20th

Posted by NRE on 08-14-2017 07:42 PM in SCCA Mid-West

I definitely recommend making the drive to High Plains Raceway! It’s an incredible track with a ton of elevation change and a lot of good places for passing. Let’s get those entry numbers up!

#99976 HSST @ Mid-Ohio, June 2nd ~ 5th, Smack, etc

Posted by NRE on 06-09-2017 08:46 AM in SCCA Great Lakes

It wasn't really the weekend we wanted but I wouldn't have even had the opportunity to be there last weekend if it wasn't for all the hard work Jim, York, Kyle, and the rest of the East Street Racing crew put in. They worked incredibly hard just days before the event to get my car all prepped and ready for the weekend and for that I am super grateful. I'm glad I was still able to go even though I only managed sixth and seventh place finishes. Thank you again to the whole ESR team for all the help to get me to the track last weekend! The kind of service you get with ESR is unparalleled in my opinion because they go above and beyond to help you out and make sure you're happy with the services you had done to your car plus they have great track side support!

#98970 Heartland Park Majors-May 13&14 -need some SMs to enter !

Posted by NRE on 05-02-2017 06:27 AM in Spec Miata (SM)

I heard great things about the Track and brand new pavement at Heartland Park Topeka.   The surface is supposed to be near "F1" level quality and I believe this would be the first SCCA Majors held there since the re-pave.

I entered both of our drivers (Max and Nicho) in the hopes that we'd break the ice and get more folks to sign up and try out this track.

Please consider signing up !

thanks

Kurt Nufer

#98836 Gateway Majors/Regional

Posted by NRE on 04-25-2017 09:02 PM in Spec Miata (SM)

The St. Louis region SCCA hosted a combined Mid States Conference Majors/Regional IT event this past weekend at Circuit of St. Louis (Gateway).

This was the first weekend the Nufer Race Engineering had 2 drivers competing.

First of all, I want to thank Tom & Steve Scheifler for the use of Tom’s #28 NA for Nicho Nufer.

Nicho competed in the ITA class with Tom’s car as part of his requirement to gain a full competition license.   This was his first race weekend after completing Skip Barber MX5 school in March.

Nicho said "The car ran perfectly all weekend, this was a great car to start my first race weekend in, the handling was great" !

Including practice on Friday I think we logged almost 5  hours of seat time.

Nicho won both Saturday and Sunday ITA regional races.  The Sunday race was the same length (35 minute) as the Majors races that day.  Nicho finished right behind a Porsche 944 Turbo in ITE (second overall).

The real bonus: no off track excursions or body damage all weekend.

Race Steward Dan Miklovic signed off on his full competition license J

Again, wanted to thank Tom and Steve for their help.

Also wanted to let the SM community know Nicho will be joining the fray soon with his older brother Max !.

Kurt Nufer.

I am not going to read it, I am going pull a Nuffer and park next to you and have you do the setup at the track for me LOL

I'd park next to you for advice Kyle, but I want to win😂. But I really appreciate all the help and advice Jim and the east street crew give us.

Thanks Tom for the kind words. I cannot thank Jim Drago and the whole East Street Crew for helping my team and I progress over the last two years and for the amazing motor! Regardless of how we do here, it's an honor to have been selected for the first step of the MRT24 shootout. Best of luck to all my competitors. Be sure to check out our video!

SCCA National Champion Runoffs
presented by Garmin VIRB
at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course
September 24, 2016

I would like to congratulate Justin Hille on his first national championship win. He had an amazing week being fastest each day. I would also like to congratulate Michael Carter on 2nd place at his first runoffs. Sorry my car started misfiring during the warmup lap and I couldn't give you the push at the start. Congrats to Elivan Goulart on 3rd and Jim Drago on 4th

This was a pretty tough and fun week at the Runoffs. My dad, Kurt Nufer and I got at Mid Ohio late Friday night in order to practice. We struggled both Saturday and Sunday getting the car setup right. The qualifying times on Monday and Tuesday were beyond our reach. We knew the car was fast if we could just get the brakes and tires to work the way we wanted them. Jim Drago was kind enough to loan us a set of tires for Wednesday. That was the day I put my #27 SM car in 4th place. My qualifying time held on Thursday. I was excited to be starting in 4th behind Hille, M. Carter and Drago.

I knew the race would be tough because of the many fast drivers in the field. There was only 1 second between the first twenty cars in the field. I felt good about my chances starting in fourth position. Unfortunately as we started our warm up lap, my engine began misfiring and continued to do so intermittently throughout the race. Despite the issue, we were still able to hang on to tenth place.

Thank you to my family, especially my dad, and friends for all your support. I would like to thank Jim Drago and York for all their help and advice.; I couldn't do it without the help from the East Street Racing team.Thank you to James at Mazda Racing for all the parts help. Thanks to Jordan Smart for pointing us in the right direction about the brakes. A big thank you to all the other racers who are always so willing to share their racecraft knowledge with me and help me to improve. I would also like to thankSuburban Auto Body IncFlorissant Auto Paint, Mazda Motorsports, Hoosier tires, and East Street Racing.

Finally, thank you to the SCCA and the workers for putting on such a great racing event.

Thanks again to everyone in the SM community for making this such a fun season. I look forward to seeing everyone again next year! -Max Nufer

#92566 Grattan---Last major of the year--Smack-Results

Grattan is one heck of a track! It's almost like a roller coaster ride. We were so close to pole and Kicera got us on the last lap. I started second and tried to push Kicera as much as I could up until  I got around him. We worked together and created a pretty decent gap and then towards the end of the race, the battle for the lead began. It was some very close, but clean racing. It was awesome. That track is a workout and requires every bit of physical and mental ability you have. Congrats to Tyler, Justin Hille and Jordan Smart for driving such a good race. A HUGE thanks to Steve and Tom Scheifler for letting us use their wheels and tires for Sunday's qualifying and race. Another big thanks to Jim Drago and the East Street team for all of the set up help and driving advice. I cannot wait to get to battle all of these talented guys again at Mid Ohio during the Runoffs for the Spec Miata national championship! It's been a great season running the SCCA majors tour in both the Mid-States and Northern conferences.
