#114267 So Who's going to win NASA championships?

Posted by UCFBrett on 09-27-2019 09:48 AM in Spec Miata (SM)

Funny how things come full circle! When the schedule/format was announced for COTA last year(SM) I reached out to NASA and asked "why the change?" After years of 2 qual races and a main...suddenly we had become SCCA(at least for SM)?? The answer I got was basically there was some big influence to change the format...and so it happened.

Don't get me wrong...no issue with either format...but the difference has always defined both organizations!

What NASA did this year was just weird :(

At a minimum they should have given points/combined both results of the qual and qual race to form a grid for the main race!

My vote is to go back to the original format...qual race, qual race, Main race!

Congrats Jim on the win!

NASA did conduct a survey among Championships competitors before the event, with a choice of formats, which included the format used last year and the format used at NASA Championships in the years before, in which the cumulative points total of Friday's and Saturday's qualifying races determined your starting position for Sunday's championship race.

The format used at Mid-Ohio was the one chosen by the majority of those who responded to the survey.

My old car was at Mark's shop when he discovered both were sloppy.

By that time, I had two seasons on them. The car felt a little off, too, in that it was difficult to transition smoothly from corner-exit slip angle to straight line acceleration. I keep a closer eye on them now.

I took the screws in the middle of the piston bore out and didn't put them back. Thus the leak. I put them back in yesterday, bled the system this morning and drove it around the block. It appears to be fixed. Thanks for your help.

I picked up two used calipers, so I'll just start over. I think what's causing the leak is that I didn't put the adjuster screw back in the piston bore, which has an O ring seal at its base.

I just finished removing the e brake mechanism from the car and calipers and now the shafts that the emergency brake cable attached to are leaking. I bought a caliper kit from Mazda and replaced both shaft seals, but they're still leaking badly.

I'm thinking I removed more than I should have? I'm pretty sure I removed the adjuster screws, which is the reason the shaft seals are leaking. Does anyone have any suggestions/wisdom?
