How much are the rear subframe braces from Mazda Motorsports?
I couldn't find them on the web site. I called and spoke with James and he says $169 - which doesn't sound right. Goodwin has them for about $38.
Thanks.

From Goodwin "Price is per single brace (not all three in the picture). " so $38.95 x 3 =$116.85 for illegal aftermarket pieces. Makes the legal correct part seem more reasonable.

What's the main benefit of the braces? I don't have them even though I have a 94-97 subframe.
It provides some additional stiffness to the rear. Whether or not it makes a significant difference I couldn't say but they did continue to beef up the suspension bracing over the model years so someone at Mazda thought there was a benefit.
As for a used price, I'd think close to free from a private seller or a junk yard. It's a couple of bit of tubing crimped and welded together with a couple of holes in it. I have a spare one that was thrown in as a "I'll give you a great price on the parts you want if you'll take this other stuff out of my garage." sort of deals. I'm betting they don't fly off the shelves from the Miata salvage pros so they have to charge something to have a reason to keep a couple lying around.
(It does give you somewhere to clamp the tip of your exhaust if you have problems with it rattling against things too.)
